As you know we have been following all the news for AMC networks adaptation of Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire. Like other fans of The Vampire Chronicles, we have been dying to know who will portray Louis. We already told you previously that Sam Reid had been cast as the vampire Lestat. At that time, we had yet to find out who would portray the main character in the series. We finally have that casting news.
Jacob Anderson, famously known as Grey Worm in Game of Thrones has been cast to play the vampire Louis.
We are very excited for him. We loved Jacob in Game of Thrones so we can’t wait to see what he does with his portrayal of the famous vampire. While we are happy for Jacob, and there are definitely lots of people celebrating this news like us, we have to acknowledge that there are racist haters out there.
We know it was risky to cast a POC actor to play a character who is white in the books and was previously played by a white actor when Brad Pitt took on the role in the 1994 film adaptation. People really need to step out of their “comfort zones” and get with the program. It’s 2021, diversity matters and we’re tired of seeing the same people grab roles like this over and over.
What we find interesting about peoples “outrage” is that this is a mythical story. Vampires are not real. As much as some people wish they were. We don’t understand how people can imagine the existence of vampires but can’t see a black person as one. We remember the uproar when Edi Gathegi was cast to play Laurent in Twilight. Boy, oh boy did the racists come out then.
Personally, we think casting Jacob as Louis was a wonderful choice He’s a great actor and has the ability to bring the perfect amount of intensity and sadness to Louis’s character. He gave us lots of feels as Grey Worm in GOT so there is no doubt in our minds he won’t do the same with this role.

The casting of Jacob also makes us think that the creators of the series could be bringing a more modern approach to this version of Interview With The Vampire. Then again, they could be keeping the original time of the story and doing a good old fashion Bridgerton diversity change. Either way, we are here for any and everything about this casting.
Other than Jacob being a very talented actor, something you might not have known is that he’s also a great musician. His stage name is Raleigh Ritchie and I highly recommend checking his songs out. One of my favorite songs by him is Stronger Than Ever.
We think Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid are going to be a great team onscreen and we can’t wait to see the chemistry between the two. It makes us feel even better that Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor will be handling the first two episodes of the series. This is for sure giving us some high hopes and we will be continuing to stalk all things Interview With The Vampire to keep you updated.
While we wait to see Jacob in Interview With The Vampire, you can check him out as Vinder in Doctor Who when series 13 returns this year.
