Friendship is complicated enough without having to live it in the public eye. We know that’s not something that we could do and we can’t imagine how hard it is for those that do.
You may remember that when Selena Gomez’s documentary, My Mind & Me, was released, she said in the documentary that Taylor Swift was her only friend in the industry. Now, we took it as her friend in the music industry – not overall. We didn’t take it as a slam towards anyone.
But some took it another way, because as you may also remember How I Met Your Father star, Francia Raisa, donated a kidney to Gomez. TBH, Gomez has always praised Raisa, always said that she owes her her life and that she’s her best friend.
And we’ve always believed that. No one could ever turn their back on the person that saved their life. We just didn’t see it the way some did.
The court of public opinion weighed in and there have been rumors of a feud between Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa. After all Raisa unfollowed Gomez on Instagram and well, we all know what that means. Right?
Selena was on Apple TV+’s “Dear…,” and talked about Raisa and the kidney transplant, calling Raisa her best friend.
“My best friend. Her name is Francia. She said ‘No I am absolutely getting tested,'” Gomez said when talking about Raisa’s reaction to Gomez needing a kidney.
Gomez went on to say that Raisa was tested within three days of finding out. She went on to say about the situation, “it was one of those moments where I felt watched over. I know I was so, so, so lucky. I understand that that doesn’t happen for a lot of people and I know the outcome of some of those situations and how serious they are, so I do not take it lightly that it’s happened to me that way.”

“I will never, ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia. The idea of someone not even second-guessing to be a donor was unbelievably overwhelming.” Gomez said.
We’re thankful for these two and their friendship, as well as their openness. Whatever happens in their friendship is their business, but we will say, we’re rooting for them both. Always.
