Netflix has finally announced the season 2 premiere date for Heartstopper with a behind-the-scenes video that just makes us want this show NOW. Returning on August 3, 2023, this is going to tell the next leg of Nick and Charlie’s relationship, Tao and Elle reframing their relationship and if it can be more, and we’ll get more of Tara and Darcy aka this writer’s personal favorite.
In the behind-the-scenes video, we get to see the cast hanging out, acting out cute scenes where they run into each other’s arms, and tease what’s to come. Elle, played by Yasmin Finney, is going to be more confident. Kit Connor, who plays Nick, said that creator Alice Oseman has some amazing scripts that feel like they have a different vibe for the season. And Joe Locke, who plays Charlie, said that his character is going to go on a more mature journey.
But the one thing that was supremely clear in this video is that this set is filled with a joy and love that comes through the screen. And yes, I know that not everything is perfect on a set, but these actors look like they’re having fun and enjoying creating a show that has been an inspiration to so many. And this video just makes viewers, including myself, feel like there is so much love, light, and happiness put into this show alongside the real issues that they’ll face in season 2. It also makes us want to read Heartstopper all over again, especially because it’s back on Tapas, Webtoon, and Tumblr!

Altogether, I’m personally looking forward to how Heartstopper is going to show these friends come together and elevate each other. After all, that’s what found family is about. And this show has plenty of that.
