Most every girl has their dream proposal. Some may disagree with that, as some girls never have wanted to get married. HOWEVER, as a person that has never wanted to get married, even I had an idea of what I wanted for a proposal to be (and again, I didn’t even want one).
I’ve talked about what I wanted my wedding to be like with friends and we’ve discussed what they wanted their weddings to be like. We discussed our dream engagements, rings, and more. NEVER though, did anyone I know ever talk about being proposed to under water.
That being said though, we’ve all agreed that even if we have a dream proposal, we all knew that when it happened it would most likely be the perfect engagement. For you see, when things happen, they happen. It’s not up to us to question it. Life happens.
For Millie Bobby Brown, her proposal is unlike anything that we’ve ever heard. She was out promoting her upcoming movie (premieres this week) Damsel on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The actress talked about how they were on vacation and as one does, they were going diving.
You see the two love diving apparently. To each their own. I prefer a shopping spree, but diving it is for these two. They had one spot that they normally went to and Jake told her that they were going to the spot at 8am the next morning.
“He’s telling me, ‘We’re going to the same spot we usually go to,’” Millie said, recalling the day. “I’m like, ‘It’s boring, let’s go somewhere new.’ He’s like, ‘No, we have to go to this spot.’”
So, I would have thrown a fit and not given in, but I am not Millie. She’s a good person and went along with it. The next morning the went diving and when they were several meters down, that’s when it happened.
“He gives me like a shell, and I like, turn it over, and it’s a ring,” Millie said.
So how do you say yes when you’re under water? Well you give an “OK” hand signal with your hands.
“I think it was underwhelming, but we freaked out.” Millie continued. We don’t think it was underwhelming. We’re actually impressed with the romance of it all. We would have dropped the ring, but don’t even feel so embarrassed about that because Millie did too.
She said that the ring slipped off her finger and it plummeted into the water. Jake though, he wasn’t willing to just loose the ring.
“Jake threw himself, like so deep, like the diver was like, ‘You can’t do that, like, your ears … literally your brain will explode,’” she recalled, visibly moved by the memory. “He does a cinematic, like, grab, opens (his hand) and he saved the ring!”
The ring that he had under water, that wasn’t even the real ring. The real ring was one that Jake had gotten from her Mom. Her engagement ring is a ring that once belonged to her Mom (I say once, because it belongs to Millie now). We have to love that, because that makes it even more special and means that Jake got permission from her parents.
That’s just too sweet. I think I speak for everyone on Fangirlish when I say, we love romance.
