After much speculation, it seems like Millie Bobby Brown‘s new Netflix movie Damsel is being delayed until next year. The move isn’t surprising as the WGA and SAG strikes have hit Hollywood where it hurts. And this move by Netflix is them probably trying to stretch their content until a deal is settled with SAG as the WGA deal has passed. It could also be that they need more time for reshoots or CGI cuz dragons.
Originally the movie was set to be released on October 13, 2023. That time has passed and now the streamer has revealed during Geeked Week that Damsel will be released in 2024. Netflix also shared a new poster for the movie. In it, you see Bobby Brown’s character leaning out of a hole in a wall and she looks to be screaming. Against the rock face, you can see the shadow of a dragon.
For those looking for footage for Damsel, it’s been confirmed by outlets like Digital Spy, that Damsel will have its first teaser trailer on Saturday, November 11th. And hopefully, we’ll see how Bobby Brown’s character ends up in a cave with a fire-breathing dragon after an agreement to marry a handsome prince turns into the royal family recruiting her to be sacrificed to repay an ancient debt.
Damsel also stars Jurassic World‘s Nick Robinson, Black Panther’s Angela Bassett, and Black Widow’s Ray Winestone. This isn’t Bobby Brown’s first run with Netflix as most people know. She is set to play Eleven in the final season of Stranger Things. And there are hopes that she will also be returning for Enola Holmes 3.
Damsel is set to be released in 2024.
