With the resounding success of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series on Netflix, the love and interest for the series continues to expand. But this time, it’s on the webcomics platform, WEBTOON. For those not in the know, WEBTOON is a vertical scroll format platform available on mobile and desktop. It certainly has larger platforms and studios in the mix. But the real heart of WEBTOON are the unique creators who fashion creative, weird, funny, heartfelt, and visually stunning stories like these here and here.
WEBTOON has now launched the entire series of official Avatar: The Last Airbender comics, beginning with Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Promise. Each book in the comic series will be broken up into a series of webcomic episodes, where readers can explore the world of the Avatar with Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and the rest of this iconic cast of characters, now in vertical scroll format. So far, the first three episodes are now available with new episodes dropping each Saturday.
“Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph’s on-screen journey is just part of their adventure, which continues in an incredible series of graphic novels. Now, readers can immerse themselves in the rich storytelling and stunning artwork of these graphic novels in a new way,” said David S. Lee, WEBTOON’s Head of Content. “We’re thrilled to give Avatar: The Last Airbender fans a new way to experience the magic of this beloved series and introduce the WEBTOON community to the incredible world of bending.”
