Is the goal of the 9-1-1 writers to make us cry? To make us sad, angry, and a little annoyed? Because we felt all of those emotions in 9-1-1 7×09 “Ashes, Ashes”. And now we’re worried about the fate of Captain Bobby Nash. Let’s review.

Will Bobby Survive?
To say that “Ashes, Ashes” was a rough episode for Bobby would be a huge understatement. We knew something was wrong when he turned down his Medal of Valor. He then told Athena he was resigning and started giving some things away. He gave Eddie his prayer book, and he let Buck cook. Between those things and his conversation with Buck, it felt like he was saying goodbye.
We know he was depressed when the show first started. But he worked so hard to become and better person, and he loved being Captain of the 118 and being Athena’s husband. It feels like all of that progress vanished after seeing Amir. Honestly, we were surprised to see Amir again. Like we said last week we love Malcolm-Jamal Warner, but were surprised to see him back again. And we have to wonder, did he start the fire at Bobby and Athena’s house? If not, who started it?
And is Bobby leaving? We would be absolutely heartbroken if he dies. And the entire 118 would be devastated to lose their leader. And if he does wake up, will he be glad he survived? Will he want to go back to the 118? One thing’s for sure: the 118 will never be the same without Bobby.

She’s not Shannon!
Well, Kim was back this week. Can’t say that we were thrilled about that. No offense to her. She’s fine. But this storyline is just so. not. needed. Not to mention it’s not healthy for Eddie to spend time with someone who looks just like his dead wife.
Luckily, Buck talked some sense into Eddie after seeing Kim at the firehouse and got him to tell the truth. Did Eddie honestly think he could keep spending time with her? And it was so unfair to Kim. And Marisol. I know Eddie doesn’t think this is an affair, but he was seeing another woman. It doesn’t matter that he hadn’t slept with her; he still cheated on Marisol.
Things got even weirder when Kim showed up and pretended to be Shannon so Eddie and could tell her everything he needed to. And at the end of “Ashes, Ashes”, Christopher and Marisol walk in and see Eddie with Kim. This is all going to backfire so bad. We hope that Buck is available because Eddie is going to need a friend to lean on. And we also hope that this doesn’t scar Christopher. Seeing someone who looks exactly like his dead mom will probably be very traumatic.

Councilwoman Ortiz is THE WORST
How could she be so cruel to take Mara away from the only people who have cared about her? She loved Hen and Karen and Denny. And now that family is torn apart because Ortiz is petty. She thinks that Hen deserves to lose Mara because Hen killed her son. Here’s a news flash: Ortiz’s son’s death was his own fault. He chose to drink and drive. Ortiz needs to realize that and see she’s not just punishing Hen by taking Mara away. She’s punishing Mara, too. Hopefully this will be fixed next week.
Other Thoughts:
- How funny was Chimney when he talked about his old Captain? “I thought he was dead.” “Only in our hearts”.
- Athena looked amazing in her red dress at the awards ceremony.
- How is next week the season finale? We’re excited. But also very scared.
9-1-1 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.
