For this writer, psychological thrillers are not my thing… normally. I get scared at my own shadow, do you think that I want to get paranoid that something like whatever messed up thing is on the TV could happen? Nope. No thank you. I do not want to be scared over meeting anyone and thinking how they could possibly kill me.
Yet, here I am weighing thoughts and thinking about how long it would take me to distract myself if I did watch a psychological thriller. Why? Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia are set to star in Obsession and well, that’s enough for me to want to watch.
The show, which will be produced by Amazon, is based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s 2021 international bestseller 56 Days.
Deadline says that the premise is, “Oliver (Jogia) and Ciara (Cameron), who, after meeting randomly in a supermarket, fall for each other fast, and dangerously hard. 56 days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified body — brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed. Did he kill her? Did she kill him? Intercutting between an intense single day in the present investigation and the twisted trajectory of the young lovers’ affair in the past, the series is both a crime story and an erotic, psychological thriller.”
Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher are writing and executive producing the adaptation.
Does it sound like something that you would watch? Are you a fan of psychological thrillers?
