Bridgerton season 3 Part 2 is here! After the events at the end of Part 1, Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” shows us the reactions that Polin’s engagement causes, while Colin & Penelope enjoy an early honeymoon before the secret that she keeps threatens to destroy everything. Ready?
Here we go!
“If He Doesn’t Know, He Can’t Really Love You”

Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” AKA one of my favorite episodes ever, it starts shortly after the previous episode ended. Penelope has just said “yes” to Colin but, after the happiness, comes doubts. She wants nothing more than to marry Colin, he’s the love of her life, but she is unsure how the Bridgertons, especially Eloise, will take the news. Everyone in Ton is going to think that Colin could have done better than her, will the Bridgertons think the same?
Only when Colin takes her hand does she feel the strength to move forward. Ton may have opinions about them but Colin is going to stand by her no matter what. He wants to marry her and that’s all that matters.
Penelope’s fears in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” turn out to be almost completely unfounded. Everyone is happy about the engagement. The Bridgertons are family to her and, to them, she is another sister, she always has been. Now it’s just a matter of making it official. And we’re sobbing!!!
However, Eloise is the only one who is not celebrating the news. She knows that Colin is not aware of Penelope’s true identity and her brother deserves to know before marrying her. Not telling him would be deceiving him, betraying him. And Eloise’s not about to let Penelope do it…or force her to do it.
“If he doesn’t know, he can’t really love you.” These words from Eloise hurt like hell but she has a point here. If Colin doesn’t know the whole truth about Penelope, about who she is, does he really love her or just the person he thinks is Penelope? However, these words are a blow to Penelope’s insecurities because that is exactly what she fears most about herself, that Colin will not be able to love her once he knows the truth, she fears losing him.
Broken Friendships in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock”

In addition to what she has to do with her brother, in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” Eloise feels angry and betrayed, once again, by Penelope. It’s yet another secret that Penelope kept from her. Eloise begins to question if she ever really knew Penelope and if they were real friends. Penelope just used her to stay close to Colin?
And Eloise has a right to feel that way. She may understand why Penelope kept the secret about Lady Whistledown from her, but what happened with Colin means that Penelope kept her two biggest secrets from her, and that shakes the foundations of their friendship. Eloise can’t help but question everything.
We’ll look in more depth at the details of Eloise’s anger and Penelope’s reasons — which are also valid — for keeping her secrets in an upcoming editorial.
Kate notices Eloise’s sadness and approaches her in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock.” Since Eloise fought with Penelope, she is no longer the same, but the engagement seems to have shaken everything up and Eloise is even more subdued than before.
Thanks to this conversation, we get to find out more about how Eloise feels about Penelope and her engagement with Colin. Apart from the bitter feeling of betrayal, of feeling that Penelope hid everything from her and that their friendship may never have been what she thought, Eloise feels alone.
She always imagined her and Penelope as old women, sharing everything as sisters, as always. Eloise never imagined a scenario in which Penelope wasn’t there, in which she found herself as the only spinster. And she feels just like that now.
Everyone finds her match, everyone moves forward in their life, they live an intense and passionate love… everyone, except her. Eloise is the only one left behind, always stuck in the same place. Before, she could at least count on Penelope to be by her side, now, she is alone. And what Eloise feels matters, so, as Kate tells her in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” she must confess it to Colin.
“You Once Loved Her”

Eloise doesn’t have time to do anything when Colin beats her to it. He knows that he owes Eloise an explanation and an apology. The only thing she asks him is that he not bring Penelope to their house and, in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” he has brought her back as his fiancée. Eloise deserved to know what was happening and no one had the deference to tell her so, in addition to feeling betrayed by Penelope, she also feels deceived by her brother.
In Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” Eloise feels that the most important people in her life have deceived her, failed her, and used her. But Colin—and neither did Penelope—never had that intention. What happened with Penelope just…happened. Colin can’t help it, he can’t control it because he loves her, he loves her so much that his words fall short of expressing what he feels. And, once it all started, he couldn’t stop it. It was as if all those feelings overflowed and where before there was nothing, suddenly, she was there. Penelope.
Eloise listens to Colin speak but she doesn’t believe his words because she knows that Colin doesn’t know Penelope at all. For her, Colin is in love with an illusion, with someone who doesn’t exist. And Colin can’t understand how Eloise is so furious with Penelope that she can’t be happy for them and support them. They were inseparable, for Eloise, Penelope was more than a sister, she was part of her.
Before, Penelope officially becoming her sister would have driven Eloise crazy with happiness but now… now Eloise is firmly against this happening. Colin tries to understand it, to find out what could be so serious that the bond that united them is so broken… but he can’t find an answer.
Despite this, Colin loves Penelope and makes it clear to Eloise that she will have to live with it, even though they would like to get her approval. It would mean a lot. But Eloise can’t give it to him, not knowing that they are going to get married without Colin knowing the whole truth and that, when he does, it will destroy him. Eloise is afraid that Colin won’t recover from this.
Eloise’s fears soon come true in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” when Colin mentions his hatred towards Lady Whistledown. Eloise realizes that the truth will break her brother’s heart into so many pieces that she doubts he can glue them back together. That’s why Eloise knows that she has to do something.
Not Knowing How to Take Measure in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock”

Eloise gets the chance to do something at the engagement ball in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock.” She soon confronts Penelope about the fact that she still hasn’t told the truth to Colin. He will end up finding out and then, not only will he have to face Penelope’s betrayal, but also that of his own sister. And Eloise is right on this point. However, she doesn’t know how to handle it.
Giving Penelope an ultimatum and also ruining the engagement ball of her brother and her former best friend with that toast full of bile and hints towards Penelope is a completely childish attitude. Does Eloise feel so much accumulated resentment that she has to ruin Penelope’s night like this? Does she feel so resentful that she has to harass her so much that she has a panic attack? Even when Eloise sees that Penelope is trying to tell Colin everything, even when she sees that she can’t breathe, Eloise doesn’t loosen her grip on her.
Don’t get us wrong, Eloise has every right to feel angry. She feels that Penelope doesn’t value her friendship, that maybe she wasn’t even her real friend and she has every reason and right to feel that way but what Eloise does in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” is stupid, childish, and a very cheap shot. Eloise is acting vile, mean, and despicable just to hurt Penelope because we don’t believe for a moment that this is just about trying to protect Colin.
If Eloise’s only reason for giving this ultimatum was to try to protect Colin, she would have told him what was happening without needing any ultimatum or she would have trusted Penelope to tell him. But doing this only adds salt to the wound. So, long story short, does Eloise have a right to be angry? Yes. Did she act well? Not at all.
The Whim of a Bridgerton

Eloise is not the only one who has something to say against the Polin engagement in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock.” Penelope decides not to tell her mother anything. And we think it’s the best decision. Portia always belittles and despises her, she always makes fun of the close relationship she had with Colin, so she doesn’t deserve to share Penelope’s happiness now. And, if we had any doubts about this, Portia’s attitude dispels them all.
She continues to belittle Penelope, believing that she is naive and trying to achieve something that is out of her reach. Lord Debling was the safe option for her, one who wasn’t going to give her problems, and it was already an achievement, but Colin is… a whim that is going to cost her dearly. He is the most desired man of the season, why would someone like him notice someone like Penelope?
We see here how Portia considers Penelope someone incapable of making anyone desire her or fall in love with her, much less the best match for the Ton. The way she belittles and despises her, the way she humiliates her, is a hard blow to Penelope. She is already used to those veiled insults from her mother, to Portia considering her less than nothing, but, still, despite the years, Penelope can’t help the fact that her heart skips a beat every time it happens. She can’t help it from hurting.
However, now Penelope has more courage, and, in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” she dares to challenge her mother at her own game. Penelope doesn’t understand what the problem is, she and Colin are getting married. He appreciates her. There’s nothing more to talk about. But Portia has only just begun. Her venom spreads like a spider’s web when she questions the love Colin claims to feel for Penelope. Did he declare himself to her? This hits the core of Penelope’s insecurities.
Colin Bridgerton is the Knight in Shining Armor in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock”

Because of Portia’s contempt and disdain, Penelope begins to feel less and less desirable, less and less worthy of love. And despite everything that happened with Colin, those wounds and insecurities are still there, because they run too deep. Colin hasn’t told her that he loves her, not in those words, at least, so Penelope can’t help but wonder if what Colin really feels for her is just about desire, not love.
Portia knows she won this battle, so her condescension toward Penelope returns. Penelope was such an idiot that she actually thought Colin had feelings for her… and used her tricks to get him. Portia is treating her daughter like a vile whore, and if she knew her at all, she would know that Penelope would be incapable of doing something like that, unlike Portia herself.
Despite this, there were too many years of enduring Portia’s grievances, so in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” Penelope becomes smaller and smaller with every word her mother says. Colin arrives at that moment and Penelope feels embarrassed.
She is ashamed that Colin heard the horrible things her mother was saying to her, and Penelope is ashamed that he saw how Portia treated her. And this is typical of psychological abuse – yes, we said it. In the end, it’s not the aggressor, but the victim who feels ashamed that it’s discovered, almost as if Penelope were doing something wrong, as if it were her fault.
Colin is furious to hear Portia talk to Penelope like that, that she has to endure such abuse. And he makes a couple of points clear. His engagement to Penelope is due to love, nothing more, and it’s time for Portia to respect Penelope. If Portia weren’t so petty concerned about her position in the Ton, she would see that Penelope is the best of that family. And he’s right. Colin Bridgerton is the god we pray to, we swear.
Penelope can’t believe the fierce way Colin defended and supported her, the way he stood by her. For her. No one has ever done anything like this for her and Penelope can barely wrap her head around the fact that she is no longer alone, but has someone at her side willing to do whatever it takes for her. And we just want to hug Penelope.
The Advantages of Relating to the Bridgertons

Colin’s words don’t seem to fall on deaf ears in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock.” He showed Portia that he truly loves Penelope and his words made her feel uncomfortable and upset, even offended. And that Penelope didn’t want to share her happiness with her… that strikes a chord with Portia. She doesn’t see the harm she has done to Penelope, she always considered that she was protecting her, even from herself, and that she did the best she knew how.
However, even though Portia sees that her way of “protecting” Penelope from her has been harmful, she continues to belittle her. For Portia, a love match in the society they live in is not common, but it’s even less common for someone like Penelope, so she doesn’t understand why Colin blames her for reaching certain conclusions. And here, if we ever had any kind of sympathy for Portia, it disappeared as quickly as it arrived.
Still, Portia’s attitude toward Penelope changes radically in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock.” After spending her entire life encouraging Prudence and Philippa’s mocking her, she now reproaches them for their attitude, defending Penelope for the first time in her life, and declaring before the entire Ton how proud she feels of her. So we wonder, is Portia seeing how wrong she was with Penelope or does she just see Penelope as an opportunity to be part of the Bridgertons?
Neither Penelope nor we were fooled. Portia is only decent to Penelope because she is her stepping stone into the Bridgerton family, with all the power and influence on Ton that entails. She is using her daughter, seeing her as a tool. So if we thought Portia couldn’t sink any lower, here we are.
Dreams Come True in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock”

Luckily, Polin finds themselves in their own world in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock.” But Penelope can’t forget the way Colin stood up for her. He is the first person in her entire life to do it and that means so much to her… but Colin will always do it, he loves her, and he won’t let anyone hurt her. She is no longer alone. Still, Penelope feels doubts. It seems too good to be true. She is afraid that everything is a dream and that everything will disappear in the blink of an eye.
But that won’t happen. This, they, are not going to disappear. Colin didn’t defend her like a gentleman would, he defended her as her future husband. Colin just wants Penelope to see herself the way he sees her, for her to be aware of how beautiful and incredible she is, inside and out. And what better than a mirror for that?
She’s smart, she’s brave but, beyond that, Penelope sees him. With the rest of the Ton, even with his family, he has to pretend, but she has a way of seeing him, of seeing through all the barriers he puts up… that drives him completely crazy. But it’s not just that that drives him crazy, it’s her. Her eyes, her smell, the taste of her lips, the texture of her hair, the softness of her skin… all of her.
Little by little, as Colin talks, describing each of the reasons why he loves her, why no one else exists for him, he touches her, caresses her, and undresses her right in front of the mirror. In Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” Colin makes Penelope face an image that she was always taught to despise, to replace with his voice, with his touch, all those bad memories, so that when Penelope looks in the mirror she doesn’t remember another thing that to him and his words. To remember them.
Penelope can’t take it anymore without kissing him, without touching him. Seeing herself through his eyes was too much. It’s the first time she feels truly beautiful. But Colin isn’t going to do anything she doesn’t want to do, he wants to make sure she knows she can stop it whenever she wants… but Penelope doesn’t want to stop. She wants everything from him. And Colin wants her to never be ashamed of her body again, so he puts her in front of the mirror again.
Mirror, Mirror…

Penelope is embarrassed to see herself. For a moment, she felt as beautiful as Colin described but suddenly, she doesn’t feel that way anymore. The fear that Colin will reject her appears, but he is far from that. Seeing her like this, completely naked in front of him, has made her hunger multiply a thousandfold.
And this mirror scene in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” becomes even more perfect when the camera shots perfectly show Nicola’s body, without hiding it. These days we will analyze through two editorials how important this is for the representation and normalization of non-normative bodies but, for now, we have to point out that we applaud this decision.
Just like we give a standing ovation to the way Penelope’s innocence is shown. She wants Colin and doesn’t stop admiring him, desiring him… she is so innocent that when she sees him in all his splendor she feels shy. And she longs for him, she longs to be closer to him, to melt into him. More than that, Penelope wants to know what she should do. Colin gave her so much pleasure…she wants to make him feel the same way he made her feel. Penelope wants to take control of her man’s pleasure. And she does it.
Penelope caresses his face, his chest, she explores him… everywhere. When Colin stops her, she fears she has done something wrong but it’s not about that, Colin wants that moment to last as long as possible. He doesn’t want it to be quick, he wants to enjoy her, for her to enjoy him, he wants to take his time with her, he wants to make it clear to her with each of his caresses and his kisses how beautiful she is and how much he loves her.
Again, in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” Colin puts Penelope’s consent above all else, and when she confirms that she wants to move on, only then does he touch her right there to take her to heaven. And once again, the camera shots are fantastic. They don’t hide Nicola’s body, nor her belly. They don’t hide anything and it was very easy to fall into the temptation of doing so. This is tremendously powerful and, as we mentioned, we will analyze it in depth in the editorials that we will publish later.
The laughter that Polin shares when Penelope, in her innocence, discovers that there is much more than that, much more pleasure, much more to discover with the love of her life, much more to feel, is one of the things that makes us scream in the best sense of the word. The physical connection is intimate but that complicity is even more intimate than the union of their bodies.
The Reflection of Souls in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock”

It’s time to take things further. But this is different, this will hurt…and we melt at the way Colin tries to gently reassure her. He would do anything so that Penelope wouldn’t have to suffer pain. She’s scared because she doesn’t know what more is, she doesn’t know what’s going to happen next, but this is Colin, she knows that she’s safe with him, she trusts him.
In Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” pain blinds Penelope for a moment but pleasure soon replaces it. Colin keeps looking at her, making sure she’s okay, kissing her. Everything is for her, he doesn’t matter, Colin wants to see Penelope get rid again in his arms. Her pleasure is his priority. But Penelope loves to see him enjoy, she is the one who is making him enjoy and driving him crazy with desire.
When both explode with pleasure, that complicity beyond the physical reappears. Colin just wants to make sure that she liked it, that she enjoyed it, showing, once again, that, to him, Penelope is the only thing that matters. What they just shared…they have been one. Both have felt how they melted into each other, how they united beyond their bodies, and how they sealed their union. And neither of them can get enough of it.
The scene that follows in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” is just as intimate and important. Penelope knows that Colin has experience and she only hopes that she has lived up to it, that she has made him enjoy, that she has given him as much pleasure as he has given her. And the way Colin tells her that there is nothing comparable to that, to her… Colin is desperate in love for Penelope and that’s why no previous experience can compare.
With the rest of the women, Colin barely had a physical connection, something temporary and that meant nothing. But, with Penelope, it’s different because it’s her. Because he loves her. It’s not just a physical connection, it’s a connection that goes beyond that. It’s like his soul is touching hers. And that leaves an indelible mark.
But, suddenly, the mood changes. Colin is ecstatic with happiness but Penelope is shy and apprehensive. She knows she must tell him her secret, even though everything will change when she does. Colin deserves to know and Penelope can’t keep hiding it from him, especially after something so special, she feels like she’s betraying him every second. That secret is killing her, it’s tearing her apart from the inside out.
The Bitterness of Guilt

But soon events precipitate in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” and the moment to tell the truth passes. The Queen has a plan to find out Lady Whistledown’s identity once and for all and this provokes many interesting reactions from the Ton. Penelope sees danger emerging on the horizon but Colin’s reaction is what hits her hardest.
Colin wants Lady Whistledown to fall and pay for the damage she supposedly has done — although that’s debatable to us. Colin hates Whistledown. And Penelope realizes that he won’t be as understanding as she hoped he would be. He will not be forgiving, nor compassionate…he will hate her. He will never forgive her for this and Penelope can’t bear the thought of losing him.
She knows she should tell him the truth, she knows it’s the right thing to do, that Colin deserves the truth… but she can’t lose him, not after loving him for so many years and having him right at her fingertips. So the fear of losing Colin overcomes her and Penelope decides to remain silent, at least for the moment. Penelope promises herself that she will find the right time and she will confess everything to him, though.
After Eloise’s ultimatum in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” the engagement ball ends up being the place where Penelope must confess her secret. And that means she can barely enjoy her own party. Colin gives a beautiful toast, calling their first meeting and declaring that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her, giving thanks for that privilege, but Penelope can only feel the bitter taste of guilt and fear on her lips as if it were gall. In the back of her mind, there is a voice that tells her that Colin wouldn’t say the same thing if he knew the whole truth.
And that knowledge, knowing that she is about to lose everything she has achieved, everything she has ever dreamed of, leads Penelope to feel increasing pressure in her chest. Colin knows something is happening. Penelope avoids his gaze and he fears that she doesn’t feel the same as him and that she doesn’t want to go through with the engagement. That would destroy him but Colin would respect her decision, he would never force her to do anything she didn’t want to.
But Colin is far from knowing what happens in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock.” Penelope can’t take it anymore with that pressure on her chest, with her feeling of guilt for hiding this big secret from Colin, and with the fear she feels of losing him.
It’s too much… but Eloise made her conditions clear. At midnight it would all be over, one way or another, and Penelope needed to tell Colin the truth. She needed him to find out from her. At the same time, Penelope doesn’t know how she’s going to be able to live without Colin, or how she’s going to handle losing him.
Before, when she hadn’t tasted his lips, his desire, his love, it was relatively easy to live without him. Colin was not a possibility. But now that she has felt whole in his arms, now that she is aware of what she is going to lose, living without him is going to break her in such a way that she will never be able to recover. Penelope knows it in her bones.
Unrepeatable Opportunities in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock”

All this pressure ends with Penelope having a panic attack while everyone speculates about her identity. And, when Penelope is barely managing to get some air into her lungs, Cressida of all people, the one who always despised her and mocked her, the one who took every opportunity she had to humiliate her, takes credit for all her work, of everything Penelope has achieved, of the only thing she can call her own and that made her feel like she had a voice, in front of the entire Ton. And Penelope can’t take it anymore. She ends up fainting.
And we wonder, can we blame Cressida for what she is doing in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock?” And the answer is no. If we analyze her circumstances, right now Cressida is engaged to a man three times her age and who is practically going to imprison her and kill her while she is still alive. Her parents are not interested in her well-being, only in maintaining their position in the Ton, so Cressida has to fight alone to get out of that hell.
As Colin himself says, once Lady Whistledown is discovered, she will never be able to marry and her family is ruined. Right now, Cressida desperately needs those two things to happen to free herself from a horrible fate, so she sees in the Queen’s announcement a real opportunity to escape, the only one she has. Cressida does this not to intentionally hurt Penelope, but rather for survival.
Cressida’s first idea in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” is to find out the identity of Lady Whistledown and she thinks that she can count on Eloise’s help for that. After all, she is the only friend she has and this is the only way Cressida will get out of her arranged marriage. But her conversation with Eloise doesn’t go as she expected. Eloise knows that Cressida would never find out that Penelope is the one behind Lady Whistledown’s mask. Penelope managed to fool even her. And from here, everything goes wrong.
Cressida believes that Eloise’s words have a meaning that they don’t have. Eloise meant that she supposedly knew Penelope for years and yet never suspected her, so someone like Cressida, who doesn’t know Penelope even one-tenth as much as she does, would never find out about her dual identity. However, Cressida jumps to the only possible conclusion given the information she has: Eloise considers herself smarter and better than her, so Cressida is alone in this.
And Eloise lets her think that. With the ultimatum she gave to Penelope and the possibility of breaking her brother’s heart, Cressida is last on her priority list, and that speaks volumes about how little Eloise values Cressida’s friendship. Because of this, we’re clearer than ever that Eloise chose to become friends with Cressida precisely to hurt Penelope, to try to make her feel as hurt as Eloise felt.
That said, Eloise is quick to dismiss Cressida’s concerns about her marriage because she makes the same mistake she made with Penelope: not trying to put herself in her shoes.
Again, Eloise is acting like a privileged child here who she doesn’t understand, nor has any interest in learning, that not everyone has a supportive family like hers and can enjoy the comfort of that. Other people, like Penelope and Cressida, have to endure the contempt of their families and find a way to get ahead on their own so they can leave them behind.
Family Will Never Let You Down

Kanthony are back from their honeymoon in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock!” And with a new Bridgerton heir on the way… however, Colin’s engagement and Francesca’s new relationship seem to be too much good news to add another to the plate. We love how Anthony wanted to make sure Kate was really happy to be pregnant, that that’s what she wanted, but that’s not why Kate wants to wait to tell the news.
Of course, she is happy. She is starting a family with the man she loves. But Kate doesn’t want to take the spotlight off of Colin’s new engagement or Francesca. She is still adjusting to this new big family that she is a part of and just doesn’t want to draw attention to herself when they are celebrating other family members.
The point here is that Kate is family too. Kate lived too long as her sister’s shadow and as an outsider in her own family…in Kate’s family, the important one was Edwina and she got used to just standing off to the side and watching from the corner. But now, Kate has to wrap her head around the fact that the Bridgerton family is her family. And they’re not going to let her get backed into a corner. Kate is not a stranger, but a sister to everyone.
At the end of Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” when Kate manages to carry out her first ball as Viscountess Bridgerton, she feels this for the first time. The union of the family, her family. She feels like she belongs. And that leads her to realize that the good news of her pregnancy is there to share with all of them, making them share her and Anthony’s happiness.
The Three Brothers Club

We love the scene between Colin, Benedict, and Anthony in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” not only for its content but for its meaning. Colin rushed into his previous engagement with Marina, believing he felt something that he now knew wasn’t real. Anthony reproached him for this at the time and, like a child, he didn’t listen and thought his brother wasn’t taking him seriously.
Now that child is adult enough to recognize his own mistakes and not only that but also make it clear to his siblings that what he feels for Penelope cannot be compared to what he thought he felt for Marina.
Colin’s love for Penelope wasn’t like a bolt from the blue – a lovely line straight from the book. We love it! –, it was not sudden. They have known each other since they were children and that spark, that love, grew little by little, solidifying in every interaction, in every ball, in every joke or conversation they shared.
Until now, he was too green to notice and that’s his only mistake. If Colin had realized it sooner, he could already be married to the love of his life. Speaking of puppies in love…
Words are Overrated in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock”

In Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock” Francesca and John continue their courtship but he doesn’t need any more time, he wants to marry Francesca and he wants to do things right. So the next step is to meet the whole family and everything goes… wrong. John is a man of few words, perhaps rough, but really sensitive and definitely not good in large crowds.
That’s what makes him so like Francesca, as Lady Danbury points out, and that’s exactly what worries Violet. She is aware that her daughter has this shell that makes it difficult for someone who doesn’t know how to get to her heart. And Violet thinks Francesca needs someone who can break through that shell and get her out of there, get her out of her comfort zone.
Violet is acting like a mother hen in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock,” but she forgets that only Francesca can and should decide what she needs in her life because sometimes, like in this case, we don’t need someone who takes us out of our shell, but someone who dare to live in it with us.
John is very good at proving my point when he talks to the Bridgertons alone and demonstrates how deep his feelings are for Francesca. He may be sparing with words but what he feels is real, it’s intense, and it’s forever. That’s enough for everyone, including Violet, or so it seems…
Other Stuff in Bridgerton 3×05 “Tick Tock”

- The way Colin defended Penelope from Portia tooth and nail, chef’s kiss!
- Hyacinth is the most excited about the Polin wedding. We love her!
- Speaking of Hyacinth, did she meet her future husband in Lord Ken, the Modrichs’ son?
- We would have loved for Lady Danbury to be involved with Polin and Penelope, but at least we get this little moment of Danbury’s appreciation of Penelope.
- Violet is very proud that her putative daughter is now going to become her daughter-in-law.
- Eloise didn’t realize something was going on between Penelope and Colin, even when Cressida did, which only proves our point that Eloise is in a bubble that only she is in and sees others more as her audience than her friends.
- Eloise’s words about Colin not being able to love Penelope if he really knew her only add salt to the wound of rejection that Penelope has known her entire life. You can see the moment Penelope’s heart breaks.
- Marcus is still very interested in Violet, but Lady Danbury doesn’t like him at all… it’s clear that she doesn’t know how to avoid what is beginning to arise between them and we can’t help but wonder why.
- More gaming scenes filled with Bridgerton competitiveness! But without so much tension, please, and thank you.
- Kanthony always competing to win. Our babies!
- We need more Kate and Eloise scenes!
- The scene with the three Bridgerton brothers is everything we were missing in Part 1!
- Colin tells Penelope that she is his. Hot!
- “There is nothing comparable to this.” Colin Bridgerton chose violence.
- New clues from writer Colin…he’s coming!
- Colin Bridgerton naked, OH MY GOD!
- Colin loves Penelope more than he can express. DEAD!
- MY BRIDE!!!!!!
- Colin’s kiss on Penelope’s hand when she arrives at her engagement party and those looks they share…they’re in their own world.
- We love that Colin has the grace to apologize for Cressida’s presence on such an important day for Penelope but that he can’t wait for her to see Penelope succeed. There’s no one more Team Penelope than Colin Bridgerton, we swear.
- Colin’s speech at the engagement ball. We are on the ground! Our romantic hearts are jumping right now.
- Colin is shy when he thinks Penelope doesn’t like their new home. We love it!
- Colin’s lust-filled voice. My Goddess!
- Colin vocally asked Penelope for consent on several occasions, making sure she felt okay and that they were not doing anything she didn’t want, and treating her with such gentleness…brought tears to our eyes.
- Colin points out to Penelope how beautiful she is so that she forgets about all the times she has been lied to and told otherwise. WE’RE SOBBING!
- Penelope wants to repeat all the thing immediately after sleeping with Colin. SAME.
- Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton are PERFECT!
