There was a time, in the very distant past, when news of Tyler Labine joining For All Mankind Season 5 would’ve had us like “OMG Iggy from New Amsterdam!” But, well…then, he opened his mouth. Not just once either. Nope. He had to just. Keep. Talking. So now, we’re going into the fifth season of a very special series…worrying about this dude and what he might decide to shade in his little Instagram Lives. But, hey! On the plus side, at least there isn’t really a ship on this show after what happened to Sergei, so he can’t rain all over that parade.
We can just hear it now. “Why is everyone always talking about all these women? I didn’t think it was that kind of show! Sometimes, you get sick of everyone wanting to say ‘hi, Bob’ all the time. I mean, what about me? This is an ensemble show. What about me.” So true! Maybe it won’t even be an Instagram Live this time; maybe he’ll hop on the cesspool formerly known as Twitter and do a Space! Or. Perhaps a Tiktok. Yes, yes. He’ll do a “get ready with me” and just complain about not being the center of the universe, and all sorts of characters people have connected with getting more attention than him.
At this point, we should probably go ahead and hope that Danielle Poole’s happy ending was an actual ending. Otherwise…uh. Let’s just say there will be editorials if he dares to disrespect the heart and soul of For All Mankind. And while we’re at it? Ed Baldwin is a hero, even when he makes us angry AF. So no, this effin’ guy had better not start talking about him either.
In fact, here’s our advice for Tyler Labine as he joins one of our all-time favorite shows. Just…no speaking. Hush. Stay off social media. Show up, do your job, and maybe learn something from the awesome talent all around you. If we get the guy who played Iggy at the beginning of The Sharpwin Show, we’ll be thrilled. But we know better than to expect better than what we got near the bitter, awkward end.
Oh! And the great irony here? In case you missed it, good ol’ Ty’s playing…a Mars Peacekeeper. Talk about actors not being their characters. But at least there’s hope: We know Mars isn’t exactly a friendly atmosphere, so…take from that what you will.
We’re sure we’ll have some better For All Mankind Season 5 news for you at some point. Until then, we said what we said about Tyler Labine joining the cast. And if we turn out to be wrong, we’ll (grudgingly) say so.
