It’s kind of crazy how you can meet someone and your whole life can be turned around in an instant. They’ve got you doing things that you never thought that you would never do – well that and a whole bunch of circumstances that can change everything.
Emily is trying so hard to be this person who doesn’t have complications, but the truth is she’s riddled with complications. Everyone is. Even when our lives seem so simple, there are always things underneath that we are hiding.
For Emily, it seems that the best thing that happened to her was Marcello rescuing her on that mountain. He’s about to change her whole world. The issue is he needs to open up a bit first.
Let’s break down the episode –

DAUGHTER EVIL TAKES A STEP OVER THE LINE
I am beginning to wonder if I just misunderstand Genevieve or if she really is as evil as I think she is. She just seems to be the worst human alive and I feel like I am being a little harsh. However, mess with my people, I don’t like you.
Having stayed too long at Sylvie’s, Daughter Evil has found an apartment in Emily’s building. Leave it to Gabriel to open his mouth, when he should have kept his mouth shut.
I may not like Geneiveve, and I do think that she is calculating. I don’t trust her at all. However, that being said, I feel bad for her. Moving to a new country, doing new things, and trying to fit in. But there is a way to do it and to me, she feels like she’s trying to take over Emily’s life. It’s a sad thing to see.
When Emily goes upstairs, Mindy is visibly upset. You see, that Eurovision photo shoot has become even more complicated.

THE NEWS
I’ve said it before and I will say it again – Mindy is a treasure. She’s a beautiful treasure and I am so glad that this show is using her more and telling more of her story. I feel like it’s a necessary thing – to tell more about the supporting characters.
Especially because Mindy is giving main character energy.
At the Eurovision photo shoot, the photographer wanted to sell the relationship between Benoit and Mindy. The pictures that were taken made them seem like they were in love and a couple. It worries Mindy, because she knows how people will react.
Especially Nico.
And Nico is freaking out when his brother talks to him about the situation. Nico believes he’s going to loose the CEO position because of this and asks Mindy to drop out of Eurovision.
There are things that I can understand about relationships and things I can’t. Asking the person you love to give up on their dreams, because it is convenient for you is something I do not understand and can not get behind. I do also get that this is effecting Nico, but like have a conversation. Do not just expect people to give things up.
Mindy has gone through a lot. So is Nico, I get that. However, their downfall is a lack of communication and I do hope that changes. But, will they last? Not sure. Not even sure how I feel about that anymore.

CAMILLE MAKES AN APPEARANCE
We learned that Camille has moved and TBH, wasn’t upset. I don’t pretend to like her character. We all know that. I just think that one thing that I find sad about her is the fact that she has always seemed to find her worth in the world by relationships.
But she’s never seemed to figure out what she wants.
And I do believe that her figuring out that she wants to have a family and is adopting – maybe there is redemption for her. Maybe, just maybe, I had her wrong all along.
I think that part of the reason that people both love and/or hate any character is because of what that character brings out of them. Camille is starting to feel like that person that you may not like, but you tolerate, and then when you get to know her – you realize she was in pain.
And sometimes that person you disliked was just doing their best.
I really do hope that Camille does find her way and that her adoption goes through. She does deserve a better life and for it to be filled with love.

KRAKOW
Emily has always been a character that makes me laugh. She is this person that is vibrant and is always trying to do something more for everyone around her. She is devoted to work and is devoted to always being on.
But she deserves time away too.
Sylvie knows about her relationship with Marcello, but doesn’t really know that Emily really likes him. She asks if Emily can get a meeting and that’s when Emily says that she’s not going to Rome.
She’s going to Krakow?
Now, of all the places to pop up in Emily’s mind – I didn’t see that one coming. But what didn’t shock me was that for Luc it was his favorite place. He’s so zany, I love it. Giving him the feeling that someone likes the same things has him was somewhat genius. I feel like he needed that.
And I love seeing him so excited.

THE MOST PERFECT DAY
Alfie, you have someone who we’re starting to love more than you and well, that says a lot. I love Alfie – I have said that a million times. But there is something about Marcello that is so charming. So perfectly charming.
I think that Emily going to Rome was a good thing for her, because she can see the life that she needs to live. She can also see a relationship with limited complications. She just can feel.
And feeling is an amazing thing.
The way that the two spend the day together, indulging in life and seeing all the beautiful things that can happen is a great thing. Emily seems genuinely happy and as if she can just live. I love seeing her disconnect from life and really just enjoy a man that wants to get to know her.
Marcello is charming. He really just sees Emily for who she is and reminds her that dreams can change and grow. Dreams are nothing bad, but it’s totally normal that things are always growing. Emily seeing that there is more to life than work – it’s something we all need to see.
It’s when she gets caught in Rome and ends up on another clients Instagram that I cringed. I cringed because she’s going to get caught and if she’s caught, then everything changes.
And leave it be Genevieve that does that – rats her out. She is sitting at Emily’s desk, which doesn’t sit well with me. But here we are. She tells Julian and Luc where Emily is.
No surprise that Sylvie over hears and is like I KNEW IT. Sylvie tries to trap Emily and Emily tells her finally where she is.
But Emily sets boundaries, which is a beautiful thing to see. It’s not easy for her at all to do, but it’s something that needed to be done.
Marcello and Emily are moving a little fast, but when you know, you know. He’s wanting to show her off and take her to meet his friends. He wants to show her a beautiful life in Rome. And it’s always the most perfect time with the two of them and I really do think that is a good thing.
Sometimes its those perfect moments that makes you realize that you can have a better life and not settle.
Now, I am not saying that Emily is settling on everything, but in a way she is. She’s been settling for a certain love triangle. And sometimes you have to break out of the triangle and make something better.

SYLVIE SHOWS UP
Sometimes Sylvie is so out of line that I am not even sure what to think of her. She is so business oriented – which isn’t a bad thing, but she’s also out of line with it here. Showing up in Rome, at Emily’s hotel, and then talking Marcello about a meeting immediately.
It was too much.
Emily really likes Marcello and I was so proud of her for not wanting to mix business with pleasure. She really just wanted to embrace the culture and her time. She wanted to enjoy all of the perfect moments that she was having with Marcello. And here we were, with Sylvie showing up and not thinking about what he actions could do to Emily.
Or to Marcello.
Seeing the look of pain and hurt on Marcello’s face – I hated Sylvie at that moment. I hated her because she took something away from Emily. That broke me.
You have characters in your life that you want to have a happy ending. Emily is one of those characters for me. She’s got this heart of gold and though it may not be everyones cup of tea – IDK, I somehow relate to it.

OTHER THOUGHTS
- If someone like Marcello wants to send me texts like he sends Emily – all for it
- Marcello and his friend – I love seeing them. They’re adorbs
- The food montage, made me want to go to Italy for the pasta
- I wanna know how they got rid of the traffic – cause i’ve been to Rome and there is a lot of traffic
- I can’t talk about Gabriel going to Genevieves party and I don’t even want to talk about her party, cause I hate her manipulation
- Julian kicking Genevieve out of Emily’s seat. I applaud.
Season 4 of Emily in Paris is streaming now on Netflix.
