Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried have signed on to star in The Housemaid. We feel like that alone should get you excited. You don’t need to know much more than that. Those two names alone should make you want to see the movie.
Then you find out it’s a psychological thriller directed by Paul Feig? Sign us up.
In the movie, Sweeney will play Millie. Millie is excited as she gets a job and a fresh start working for a wealthy couple, Nina and Adam. Nina will be payed by Seyfried. The movie seems simple enough, but it gets more complicated, because according to the official logline, “Millie soon learns the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.”
Oh shiz… this sounds like it could be good. Regardless if it is good or bad, we know that we’ll be watching because again – Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
“I’m thrilled to have The Housemaid join our upcoming slate,” Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement. “A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start. My prior work experiences with Paul and Amanda have been nothing short of spectacular, and Sydney is as talented and compelling as can be.”
“Part of the fun of the book was imagining the cast while we read it, and Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are perfect for Millie and Nina – they’re both mysterious, nuanced, and incredibly skilled at becoming characters who don’t reveal everything right away,” said Erin Westerman, co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “We’re thrilled to team them with Paul Feig, who we worked with on A Simple Favor and its upcoming sequel and has a proven track record of developing stories with dynamic female leads.”
And it’s a book? Wait a second. So we can buy the book and find out what we’re in for? Yes please. It’s been on the New York Times Bestsellers list for over a year.
We’re off to buy this book so we can be prepared to watch our queens in this movie.
