As with any person in life, sometimes you do a job that you will never do again. You take every job as an experience, but some just take the life out of you and you realize that you just can’t.
That’s how Florence Pugh feels. She couldn’t do a character like Midsommar again, because of the intensity of it. She wants to – rightfully so – protect her mental health.
And we know by the featured picture – you’re like wait what – she’s gotta play Yelena again. But that’s not the role. We just love the pic.
“Protecting myself is something I’ve had to learn how to do,” Pugh said during an interview for Reign with Josh Smith. “Like, there’s been some roles, and I’ve given too much, and I’ve been broken for a long time afterwards.”
She continued, “Like when I did Midsommar, I definitely felt like I abused myself in the places that I got myself to go to, which is the nature of figuring these things out is you need to go, ‘All right, well, I can’t do that again, cause that was too much.’”
Pugh was proud of what she did with the role. Don’t get her wrong. She continued by saying that, “I’m proud of what came out of me. I don’t regret it. But there’s definitely things that you have to respect about yourself, and that’s something that I really admired.”
It was an amazing role for her to take on. She was great in it. See the entire interview below –
