I want to be excited about this news, but I can’t stop clowning on the name. What is it? News of the newest potential FBI franchise television show. FBI: CIA? What? No. First that is a SEO nightmare and I would like to be excluded from that job. Second, don’t the FBI and CIA hate each other? I have watched enough television to know that much to be true.
At least in the television world. Well movies too, but I haven’t seen one of those in a hot minute.
Why can’t we just have a CIA show? Or you know have a show that is just entitled CIA? I need clarity.
Deadline was the first to announce the news (that we saw, so if it was someone else, our bad) saying that the target for a potential series order for the 2025-2026 season. So we have time for the bad name to be put to bed. Lets go with the easiest name known to man kind to take front and center.
CIA if you weren’t getting that.
The new show is written by Wolf, FBI: Most Wanted showrunner David Hudgins, Nicole Perlman (Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, Captain Marvel) and former CIA officer David Chasteen. Three out of four of these have to see the potential nightmare of this FBI: CIA title.
FIX THE NAME
The show would have a backdoor pilot on FBI. No big surprise, but also a surprise, cause shocked that Hudgins didn’t want to do it with FBI: Most Wanted. Why? Cause well, he’s the showrunner and one would think he’d want those views.
The show would be about, “strait-laced FBI agent and a street-smart CIA agent are part of a new, clandestine taskforce charged with solving and preventing domestic terrorism in and around New York City.”
Now, the biggest thing that I have learned is that the CIA can operate on US soil. Television and movies have led me astray for that one. Now, I am currently wondering how many CIA operatives I have met (not really, don’t know anyone that interesting).
Now, here’s the other thing – as we know that Tuesday nights are FBI nights and this show is supposed to live in that universe – what’s gonna go? Because FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted are shows we’re not willing to see go (and by we, I mean me).
Seriously CBS don’t do that to me – I have only so many exciting things in my life and yes, one of those are Tuesday nights. Don’t judge.
FBI: CIA is executive produced by Wolf, Hudgins, Perlman, Chasteen and Wolf Entertainment’s Peter Jankowski.
We’ll definitely be watching this one close and you know, also talking about it, because this is what we do.
