Netflix announced today (January 30) the return of its global phenomenon, Squid Game. With season 2, just premiering in December 26, 2024, fans have been anticipating what happens next for Gi-hun and the rest of the contestants within the game. Now we know when to expect more. Squid Game season 3 will be premiering on June 27, 2025.
The news arrives alongside exclusive first-look images offering a glimpse into the fate of the surviving players. In the images we see Park Sung-hoon as Hyun-ju, Jo Yu-ri as Jun-hee, Kang Ae-Sim as Jang Geum-ja, and Yang Dong-geun as Yung-sik standing over the coffin contestants are put in when they lose. There’s another of Lee Jung-jae as Gi-hun handcuffed in what looks like the players dormitory. There are two photos of the Lee Byung-hun as Frontman, sitting in two different chairs. And then there’s a video of Park Gyu-young as No-eul, looking injured and outside in a leafy area.

We also got some key art that delivers a chilling visual punch. We see a guard dragging a bloodied contestant toward a coffin wrapped in a pink ribbon. The sinister silhouettes of Young-hee and her companion Cheol-su can also be see. Cheol-su was first hinted at in the season 2 post-credit scene.
According to Netflix, season 3 will explore the choices Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) will make amidst overwhelming despair. As for the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), he’ll be plotting his next move as the surviving players find their decisions leading to increasingly dire consequences with each round of the deadly games. It’s set to be the third and final season of the series.

Squid Game season 2 became the third most-watched season on Netflix ever, garnering an impressive 68 million views upon its debut — breaking records for the most views in a premiere week — and ranking #1 in the Top 10 TV Series (Non-English) list across 92 countries.
