We’re back! High Potential Season 1 Episode 12 ‘Partners’ is finally an episode that lives up to expectations and gives us an interesting case to unravel that confronts Karadec with his past while he and Morgan become official partners. Ready?

The Past Always Comes Back
In High Potential Season 1 Episode 12 ‘Partners’ we meet Karadec’s former partner and they have a… complicated relationship. And it’s no wonder. As is logical, Karadec still holds a grudge against his former partner for leaving him alone to clear their names while he ran away. They were more than partners, they were friends, and Karadeic felt betrayed. And the worst thing is that he never apologized for it. He was so cowardly that he didn’t even show his face to tell Karadec he was leaving.
That marked Karadec because, since then, even though his name was cleared, they didn’t see him in the same way. And he preferred to work alone, never trusting anyone enough to have them betray him like that again. Until Morgan came along and turned his world upside down. She is his partner, in every sense of the word. Unwittingly, she snuck into his life and filled that gap that Karadec had so stubbornly fought to keep empty.
And that makes Karadec dizzy because, although he knows that Morgan is very different from his former partner, he still has that fear of letting his guard down again with someone else. That is the reason why he clings to the fact that he and Morgan are not official partners, because if Karadec recognizes that they are, that fear would become too real.
Now, in High Potential Season 1 Episode 12 ‘Partners’ Karadec’s past comes back and he meets his former partner face to face. Both have a score to settle and his ex-partner, far from apologizing for what happened, looks down on Morgan and Karadec at all times, as if they were a particularly annoying fly in his soup. And that drives Karadec mad, so the two of them, being men, can’t help but start a pi**ing contest.
The truth is that all the bravado of Karadec’s ex-partner is a facade. He feels very ashamed of everything that happened and doesn’t want the past to come back into his life but, at the same time, he doesn’t know how to fix it and ask for forgiveness, so he chooses to be a jerk. Again, they are men, what do we expect? Finally, Selina makes them see that they can’t continue like this because their affairs are affecting the case and they end up focusing on what unites them: they both want to solve the case.
That ends up leading them all to join forces in High Potential Season 1 Episode 12 ‘Partners’ and, finally, Karadec can get some closure on everything that happened. This makes that fear of letting down his guard and working with someone else disappear, recognizing in Morgan the partner she always was.

Speaking of Morgan and Karadec, we love how at the beginning of High Potential Season 1 Episode 12 ‘Partners’ he is so close to telling her what was going on with his former partner and then he trusts in her. And that’s the key here: trust. Karadec trusts her with what happened with his former partner, but he also trusts her to solve the case. Karadec believes in her.
And it’s beautiful to see how at the beginning of this adventure Karadec thought Morgan wasn’t special and now, not only recognizes her worth and that he behaved like a jerk to her, but he takes it upon himself to defend her from anyone who underestimates her or treats her as if what she do is nothing. Nobody puts Morgan in a corner! — one point for you if you got that reference.
At the end of High Potential Season 1 Episode 12 ‘Partners’ Karadec has to make a big decision. Working at the FBI is a train that only passes once and is a qualitative leap in his career…but that would mean no longer being Morgan’s partner. And imagining not seeing her at a crime scene again, not calling her out for any rule she breaks, not spending hours with her thinking and ruling out possibilities, not solving a case together, it’s too much. He can’t even think about it without feeling a pit in his stomach. So he stays. And that speaks volumes about how important Morgan is to Karadec.
