Love is Blind season 8 tests what it means to fall in love…again. Do looks, money, and other things matter when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? Again, we are watching a bunch of hopefuls navigate these questions in Love is Blind Season 8. And since we can’t control ourselves (as evidenced by Love is Blind season 8 episodes 1-6 breakdown, episodes 7-9 breakdown, episodes 10-12 breakdown, and our episode 13 breakdown) here is our breakdown of the reunion episode for season 8!
1. As always, Nick and Vanessa didn’t go nearly as hard on these contestants and even thanked them for being there and being open when what they should have been doing was asking the hard questions. Do you feel like Netflix is missing out with these reunions? Would you want them to be messier?

Lizzie: Look, Nick and Vanessa are kinda like the Godfathers of Love is Blind at this point, we’re used to them but they’re kinda convenient and not really edgy and we know they’re not going to push the envelope. They didn’t bring up anything interesting, and they barely touched upon the things people want to see. And I know they don’t really have time for messy drama, but what’s even the point of people mentioning juicy stuff if you don’t follow up!? Just missed opportunity after missed opportunity, truly.
Lyra: This reunion was different from any other Love is Blind reunion we’ve had before because the season was boring. And it didn’t help that Vanessa and Nick were just facilitating the reunion. They weren’t asking the tough questions even though I think they did push maybe 5% more than they usually do. They were just there to guide the contestants from couple to couple and not really stir the pot. This season had some really difficult topics pop up like women’s right to abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, and BLM. But Vanessa and Nick didn’t really push or make a statement. And I know this is their job, and they’ve lasted eight seasons, but I’m a little bit bored. Is it time for new hosts or is Netflix going to let them actually ask the tough questions?
2. Taylor and Daniel are, to no one’s surprise, still together. What did you think about these two? Did seeing them together make it all feel a little worthwhile?

Lizzie: When the season ends and there’s no couple, the show feels like a failure. So yes, Taylor and Daniel felt like the saving grace. Especially the moments we got of them being silly together, and the little tidbit at the end about Daniel’s dad staying with Taylor’s brother when his mom was sick? That’s proof these two really merged their families, and it just felt nice to see. We’re here for the drama a little bit, but we’re not wholly here for the drama. Without at least one couple to root for, this show doesn’t work. So we’re glad they made it.
Lyra: Seeing Taylor and Daniel together was the only treat of Love is Blind season 8. And I wish that the show itself gave me more of them. I understand that reality TV is drama, and you have to follow it. But this show is also about selling me love. Or the show title is. And I wish they would spend more time actually showing me the couples that are doing well so I can fall under the spell of romance. Because that’s what this is. A spell. I wasn’t surprised that Taylor and Daniel were still together. From the little we saw of them in comparison to everybody else, they had the makings of a relationship that lasts because they like each other and love each other.
3. So, is Devin trash or? What do you think about the end of his relationship with Virginia? On a scale of one to a thousand, how glad are we she didn’t marry him?

Lizzie: Fifty million. Virginia tried not to out Devin as trash, but she outed Devin as trash. That man voted for Trump, I’m pretty sure. He and Ben went together and cast their votes. In red hats. Went to a few MAGA rallies too. So hey, Sara and Virginia, good riddance. You dodged a bullet there.
And Devin also tried to gaslight us too? Even with all the women being like no, you told us this? It was absolutely uncomfortable, and yet he kept on lying. Worst of all, they let him get away with it! Trash man, truly.
Lyra: Devin certainly looked like trash in the Love is Blind season 8 reunion. And it has to do with one thing for me. Virginia protected him by not saying what Devin believed in when it came to morals and values. But her making clear what her morals and values are, basic human decency, paints a glaring picture of what Devin believes in. And he didn’t refute it. So she dodged a major mess who wouldn’t even say that women or LGBTQ+ people deserve rights like anyone else. He would rather the world think that he is as conservative as they come. Glad you said no Virginia.
4. Talking about trash men, what about Ben? Is he worse than Devin? Do you think Sara gave him too many chances?

Lizzie: He at least came better prepared to face the music, thanks to another trash man, Jimmy. Trash men gotta stick together! But yeah, I have nothing good to say about Ben, either. He’s privilege personified, and I don’t believe he’s changed at all, he’s just gotten better at lip service. He got dragged on social media and he’s learned his talking points so he looks better. Miss me with that noise, Ben.
Sara, as I said before, you’re better off. He did love bomb you. Now you know the signs.
Lyra: Sara absolutely gave Ben too many chances. It’s like I admire thinking that someone can grow. But you can’t teach someone basic human decency. You also can’t teach someone to be curious about life and how decisions by our government affect people or just the social injustices that happen around us to others who don’t look like us. As for Ben himself, he’s absolutely worse than Devin. He knows his privilege and is perfectly okay staying where he is because it doesn’t affect him. So why should he care? And he could have grown. There’s always room for that. But it’s been about a year since they filmed and he couldn’t make one clear statement? He sounds just like the pastor from his church, running himself into circles and saying nothing. Somehow that makes you worse than people who make statements. Because you stand for nothing.
5. Joey is apparently trash too! What do you think about the story Monica told about the two of them? Did anything about how they ended surprise you?

Lizzie: Every woman this season deserved better, and it felt like Joey was using Monica’s sister as an excuse because he just didn’t like Monica enough. That annoyed me almost as much as Ben and Devin’s Trump asses. Like Joey, be a man and just say hey, Monica, I’m actually not into you. Truly, men are always about bravery and all but are incapable of telling women how they really feel. Instead, he made her get all the way to the altar and then gave us some lip service about how she hadn’t been forthcoming about her feelings. Nah, Joey, you’re trash too.
Glad you got away, Monica. Also, red is your color, you looked like a queen.
Lyra: Firstly, am I imagining things or did Joey say he was growing out his hair to donate it during Love is Blind season 8? Because it looks the same length and it’s been like a year since they finished filming. But that’s something completely different. I’m glad Monica stood up for herself and said something to Joel about why and how they didn’t work. Because if Joey thought of Monica as a friend, he should have said something sooner. Instead he allowed things to keep going. And it’s not like Monica is innocent. She could have told him I love you. She didn’t. And that led them to both waste their time. I’m just really bothered by Joey because of the comments his friends made in the deleted scenes about him not being ready for marriage and Madison and her comments about what his messages implied.
6. Dave looked really remorseful when confronted with the reality that Lauren’s “ex” was just after clout. Do you think he was honest? Do you feel sympathy for him? Is Lauren better off?

Lizzie: I’m trying to look for any sympathy, and my sympathy seems to be missing. Hold for 3-5 business days while I find it.
No, he made his choices, like a grown-ass adult. So did all the people around him, but he was the one in a relationship with Lauren. Oh, now he’s realized he made a mistake? Tough luck. Learned to live with the consequences of your actions, Dave. So yeah, I actually think he is probably being honest right now. It just doesn’t matter at this point. It’s been a year. Lauren is way better off without him.
Lyra: I feel no sympathy for Dave. He did what he did and I don’t think he gave any answers to anything. He said that Lauren was the one that got away but it’s been a year and he hasn’t even talked to her when they’ve bumped into each other in Minneapolis. He has no explanation why his sister didn’t really want to meet Lauren. The same thing goes for his friends. He’s incapable of making a decision and sticking with it. And I have no doubt in my mind that he probably called Jimmy as well to get some information and figure out how he can look the best way possible for the reunion.
7. The reunion had a lot of Mason and Meg, alongside Madison and Alex. Were they needed? Plus, there was Molly. Discuss the appearances of these contestants who didn’t even get out of the pods.

Lizzie: Why were these people here again? Who cared? I mean, other than Molly. Molly was a queen. Molly can host the next reunion.
Lyra: I literally have no idea why Mason, Meg, and Alex were part of this. I barely remember them and the only reason why I recognize Alex’s face is due to the allegations that are circling online about him. These three were not memorable. Madison was barely memorable if it wasn’t for her hair and her nose ring. (I say this as someone who has had her hair pink and currently has a nose ring.) But I guess Madison gave us a gag-worthy moment when she pulled out receipts that she slid into the side of her dress to prove that Alex was talking trash about Mason. With Molly alongside her, they continued to call out men for their garbage while also looking amazing. Molly in particular continues to be a girl’s girl and I would like to see more of her.
8. This year the reunion added a musical guest and cut the check-ins with previous contestants. What were your thoughts on that? Did you enjoy the music or would you rather check in on previous contestants?

Lizzie: Did anyone actually watch this?
Lyra: I’m probably out of the loop, but I have no idea who this musical guest is. I could walk past him on the street and I wouldn’t know who he is. Even right now I don’t want to look up his name because that’s how little of an impression he left on me. But good on him for ending up on a Netflix reunion show. He’ll definitely get new fans from that. But it felt like Love is Blind season 8 did not have enough material to keep the reunion interesting. So they brought out a musical performance, had top five memorable moments, and then brought out a hamper and socks for a little game of throw. They’re trying to keep things fresh and interesting. But it feels like they lost an understanding of what this show is about in the first place or why we watch.
9. We, however, did get a tease for Perfect Match Season 3! And that included a very cute moment with A.D. from Love is Blind Season 6 and Ollie from Love is Blind U.K. What did you think of that?

Lizzie: Okay, but why did they spoil Perfect Match Season 3 for us? Rude. Other than that, I’m really happy for AD. I remember the mess that was Clay, and my girl deserves some happiness.
Lyra: After how things ended with AD in Love is Blind season 6 episode 12, it was nice to see her finding love with Ollie from Love is Blind UK. And I will admit, I got a little bit of feelings when he proposed to her and her reaction. That was an honest reaction that was full of so much light, hope, and excitement for what’s to come. I even don’t mind knowing that they’re going to be on Perfect Match season 3 and that they end up together because what they’ve found with each other is bigger than these reality TV shows. Also good on you AD for hustling and promoting your podcast. Get that bag.
Love is Blind season 8 is available on Netflix.
I think the politics was way over the top, this is not a political show – that was a channel changer. Ok Sara wants to be a celebrity it seems, and she vie for a spot the Perfect Match, and Virginia from the beginning never showed her emotions and had the I am better than you nose up in the air. Boring. I am so happy for AD and Ollie.
