After a lifetime of nonstop work, when we retire, we just want peace and quiet. We just want time to appreciate those little things in everyday life that we don’t usually appreciate when we’re rushing around. We just need time to do all the things we didn’t have time to do. Doesn’t that sound good? Or does it sound boring? After all, peace and quiet are overrated. Or so four friends in a retirement home thought.
Ex-spy Elizabeth, ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim, ex-union activist Ron, and ex-nurse Joyce form The Thursday Murder Club. They investigate old unsolved and cold cases for fun. However, death hits close to home when a murder occurs right where they live. Of course, The Club couldn’t let it go. They’re determined to solve the mystery…even if it puts their own lives in danger.
The Thursday Murder Club is based on Richard Osman’s novel House of Games. And the film features an all-star cast. Helen Mirren plays Elizabeth, while Ben Kingsley is Ibrahim, Pierce Brosnan is Ron, and Celia Imrie plays Joyce. The cast also includes Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant, Paul Freeman, Geoff Bell, Richard E. Grant, and Ingrid Oliver.
As for the behind-the-scenes team, Chris Columbus is in charge of directing. The script is written by Katy Brand and Suzanne Heathcote. Jennifer Todd and Chris Columbus serve as producers, while Jo Burn, Richard Osman, Eleanor Columbus, Holly Bario, and Jeb Brody serve as executive producers.
