My Life With The Walter Boys, Season 2, Episode 3 – you come with the small town drama. It’s worse than a soap opera. There are a lot of surprises, chaos, craziness, lies, and whoa. Drama is one thing that small towns seem to excel at.
Jackie really wants to settle into her life in Silver Falls, but I also believe that she wants to heal. Life with the Walter family isn’t easy. Adapting to being in a new place isn’t easy.
But this is home.
Silver Falls isn’t without its drama. It’s just a different drama than the big city. The craziness that is happening in the town makes me wonder if small-town drama is the worst.
Spoiler alert: It is.
Let’s dive into it.

NO RESPECT
We all dislike Dylan, right? Or is it just me? He’s obviously not happy in his life and has decided that he’s going to make everyone around him miserable. He doesn’t listen to the world around him. He thinks that he’s on top – QB1 and all.
But what he truly is is a disrespectful idiot. When Cole tells him the play to run, he doesn’t want to do that. So he does what he wants, and he thinks that is okay. He’s shown that he has no respect, that he’s a loose cannon, and he needs to be knocked down a notch.
My Life With The Walter Boys Season 2, Episode 3 came at us hard. Really hard. It has its strengths and its weaknesses – but what it has managed to do flawlessly is make us invest in characters we may not have cared about the year before.
Cole is having a hard enough time trying to prove himself, but what I am wondering is, who is he trying to prove himself to? Everyone around him – on the team – has shown that they are playing follow the leader. Is Dylan a leader? He’s never really come across as one. He’s definitely been a follower, but it’s his disrespect of leaders that makes me want to turn off any scene that he’s in.
Dylan says to let him do him. The thing is – do yourself a favor, Dylan… shut up.

FRONT PORCH
Jackie is committed to having the best possible dance, but she’s a little worried about it not working out. The dance means a lot to her, and I can appreciate that commitment to things being perfect. Or as close as possible.
Danny is helping her paint a sign, which I have to say is beautiful. The two start to talk about Erin, and if he’s told Cole yet.
He hasn’t.
Having to tell Cole, there is a fear that Danny has. It’s like breaking the bro code. But it’s also that Cole has been through a lot, and how do you tell him something that may make him feel worse?
The ranch is quite busy. As Danny goes to talk to Erin, Katherine arrives home with the littles. She talks to Jackie and tells her that she can take all of the clothes that are in her closet and donate them. Just not allowed to judge for past fashion crime.
Everything comes back in style, Katherine.
What really upset me during this part of the episode was that Jo was dropping Grace off to spend time with Jackie. She’s so worried about the ranch expanding and bringing tourism into Silver Falls. So much so that she decides to treat Katherine like she has the plague.
And I find that so rude and wrong.
You can disagree on things – that’s okay. But when you don’t communicate and instead take it out on your friend, that’s an issue. Katherine can feel it.
Katherine tells her that she doesn’t want it to come between them, and honestly, I feel that Katherine was genuine. But when it comes to Jo – she’s a liar. And that’s a hard thing for me. Friendships should be genuine. Taking them for granted is just frustrating to me.

MUCK YUCK UCK
Jackie, as we know from the last episode, is in trouble for lying. Her punishment is mucking stalls. If you aren’t aware of what that is, basically, she’s shoveling cr** out of horse stalls. Not glamorous at all.
When she’s tossing stuff in the wheelbarrow, she almost hits Alex. Their conversation is awkward – so much so that even I cringed when Jackie told him to have a nice ride. Oh, Jackie, you tried, sweet girl.
You tried.
When she goes inside, she sees Cole. I notice the symbolism of the love triangle here. Cole is trying to be her friend, offers her coffee, and is making small talk with her. He wants to know if she’s seen anything weird with Danny. But, like a smart person, Jackie says he should ask Danny.
What I really cared about in this scene is that Cole sees hay in her hair. He tries to move to pull it out, and she thinks he’s moved in for a kiss. I screamed KISS HER. But Jackie swats his hand away.
Cole and Jackie are my ship.
Let him pull out the ha,y Jackie!

MEMORIES IN A BOX
We all know that Jackie is healing. She may not show it to everyone, but she is. She’s very well guarded, and I think it’s the New Yorker in her. She has an exterior that screams okay, but inside, there is pain, and it’s all shown in her eyes.
As she goes through her boxes, she finds something she didn’t expect to find – boxes of her mom’s designs. Beautiful dresses that were once featured in Vogue are now memories of her past.
Grace suggests that they put them up at the Pop Up. Grace – the best intentions aren’t always the best. I know that they want to raise money, but is it more important than what Jackie lost? I don’t get the pressure that a friend would put on another. Yes, they are teenagers, but also, ya it’s a lot.
When speaking to Katherine about it, Katherine assures her that it’s up to her. She doesn’t have to; she can keep them, and no one would blame her for that.
Katherine is the only person who may understand what Jackie is feeling. Jackie lost her Mom, but Katherine lost her best friend. She is the only person that Jackie feels she can relate to.
I wasn’t always sold on Katherine, but this season I have seen that she’s stronger than anyone gives her credit for. She’s balancing so many personalities, so many things, and at the end of the day, she’s always got this positive attitude that makes everyone feel comfortable. She even makes me feel comfortable watching.
Jackie’s Mom always made Katherine feel bulletproof. I hope that Jackie feels the same. Whatever she decides to do is right.

THE POP-UP SHOP
The good thing about being in high school is that you are experiencing things for the first time, and there is such a passion in your soul for it. There is something in you that makes you want to do everything that you can to get it right.
I think that the student council and Jackie, trying to save the dance, is a great thing. I watched the pop-up shop and cringed for a second, because I had been there wearing some really bad fashion. That gold dress. Oy.
But what I did admire about the pop-up shop is that it gave us a chance to see everyone’s personality on a different level. It solidified that Ruby is the devil and needs to stop what she’s up to. That girl has so many issues with Jackie and doesn’t know how to hold her attitude in. It’s when she ruins Jackie’s mom’s dress that I wanted to jump through the screen and show her what’s up.
Who I gained some respect for was Erin. She kept reminding Jackie that her bringing the dresses was brave. She reminded her that she was doing good and that it was okay. So much so that she even put aside a dress that Jackie’s Mom had set aside so that Jackie would have it.
The pop-up is a success, and I am glad that it is for everyone involved. I feel like they all need a win.
Jackie needed it more than anyone. This was her way to try and make this town feel a little more like home. I appreciate that about her.
I also appreciate that Katherine showed up for her, as well as Cole showed up. Her knowing that she has people having her back will make things easier. It will make her feel more at home in Silver Falls.
It’s when she and Cole walk out to go home, and Cole sees Danny and Erin making out in her car that I absolutely fell over. I guess not all secrets can be kept. Eyes are everywhere.
Just the look on Cole’s face, though… that was a lot.

FLY FISHING
Will is definitely doing his best to make sure that the development of the land goes well, but he goes a little too far. You see, he wants to knock down a shed that, for his Dad, is filled with so much family history that he can’t let go of.
And Will needs to respect that. The way that George and Will are sparring lately is sad. George is trying, but this is a lot for him. He wants to support the vision, but also, this is the only place that George has ever known as home. Its legacy has been instilled in George to carry on.
Leave it to Danny to be the one to tell Will to cut his Dad a break. Danny sees everything that goes on around the ranch.
In an effort to make things right, Will goes fly fishing with his Dad. He meets him where he is, which is an important thing to be able to do. George knows that Will hates doing all of that, but I do believe that even he can appreciate that Will is trying.
Seeing George and Will let their guard down and actually communicate with each other is something that I love. My Life With The Walter Boys is a show that doesn’t try to hide from the emotional moments; instead, it gives them to you to do what you will with. For me, the emotional vulnerability that they show makes them feel like family, and that feeling of family is why you invest in shows like this.
When Will stops acting like he knows everything and listens to his Dad, they are all finding their way.
That is, until Richard walks through the door and Will has to tell his Dad that he called him. George and Will – they’ll make it through. Their bond is the most important thing.
