9-1-1 Season 9, Episode 5 ‘Día de los Muertos’ is an Eddie episode. Should be an Eddie episode. It better be an Eddie episode, with that name. Just saying. If they want to throw some Halloween stuff in there, I’m all for it, as long as we remember that Día de Muertos (without the los, okay?) is a Mexican holiday and the episode should center on the only Mexican-American character on the show.
But it will hopefully not just be an Eddie episode in that he’ll have a lot of screentime, it will hopefully be an Eddie episode in that his personal storyline will move somewhere. And considering the holiday, I hope it has to do with finally finding peace with his grief over Shannon, and perhaps even Bobby. Grief is a complicated thing, but I’ve always been very partial to the Mexican way of seeing it as just… a part of life.
It’s hard to get there right away, I know. But, after a while… well, isn’t it a comforting thought to be able to celebrate the people we loved and lost? It is for me.
