I legitimately vomited over this week’s episode of Tell Me Lies. It took me over four hours to get through this episode. I do think that when it comes to Tell Me Lies, I should always be shocked because they push the envelope to the extreme. But, they need a trigger warning because this was a lot.
I’ve always known it would be a lot. I just didn’t really expect that the sexual assault storyline would overtake things the way that it has and it’s been a lot for me.
We’re seeing a bigger side to everything and what I am left with is that Bree is basically Steven with a vagina and I am always going to hate the fact I ever liked her.
MOLLY’S BIG MOUTH
What I begin with is Diana making an appointment for an abortion. I wouldn’t want to have Stevens baby either. Hard pass on that one.
I don’t think that Diana would always make the choice that she is here. Before you all come after me for understanding her abortion – that baby would not survive Steven as a father. None of us would. That poor baby would be emotionally screwed up by Steven and she would be tied to Steven forever.
And I don’t think that anyone would want to have that happen to themselves.
It’s Molly who tells Evan that Diana is pregnant. Now, I would have thought that Evan could keep things to himself, but he apparently can not. Because Evan then tells Steven and the only person that is making any sense here is Wrigley, who tells them both that it is Diana’s decision if she wants to keep the baby or not.
Steven doesn’t see it that way. He sees it as a choice he deserves to be a part of. Steven goes as far to tell Pippa, not knowing that Pippa and Diana are involved. Steven is self serving and cruel. He doesn’t care about the hurt that anyone feels – we’ve all seen that. It’s just a lot for anyone watching to see him confront Diana and for her to stand her ground. Steven sees that baby as a way to move his career forward. Diana corrects that really quickly though. She is not about to have that baby.
If we’re being honest, I applauded her standing up to Steven. More should. I also applaud Diana for making her moves on Pippa and allowing her in. I believe that the two have a chance of lasting the long haul and that they’ve seen the worst and believe that the best is something yet to come.
OLIVER
We’ve all established that Oliver is a piece of crap and that man is a predator. He’s really screwed up Bree. So, it’s kinda gross to me everytime I see the two together. There is a part of me that was like I would sleep with a man that looked like Tom Ellis too. This season, I am like is any man really worth all of that? No.
Bree gets dragged into his office and she should have just kept her mouth quiet. Never let them see you sweat is something that she should learn. However she starts talking and saying she went to the Dean without having proof of what he has done. Oliver is a master manipulator and Bree needs to have her ducks in a row before trying to take him down.
Now, Oliver has been doing this for awhile. He’s going to gaslight her into caving. The thing is that both of these two are wrong. No matter what. Oliver and his wife make a habit though of preying upon people, so I honestly think that he’s trying to shame her into submission. However, what he doesn’t seem to get is that he’s making things worse for himself and his wife. At one point – all will come out. It always does.
I don’t like the way that he uses her insecurities against her, but it is a popular argument tactic. I hope that Oliver and his dumb wife go away.
THE DEAN
Lucy was called into the Deans office to help Caitie, the other girl that had said that Chris had assaulted her. It had made its way around and they were hoping that Lucy could support her.
Something I don’t think that is fair to ask because she’d already said no. Am I mad at Lucy? Always. But like Diana tells her – she can’t admit anything, because it will call everything into question and Caitie wasn’t lying. Lucy then admits to Diana that Steven got her to say it on tape.
Like Diana – I don’t understand any of it. However, I really do get that Lucy was trying to help when she originally said that she was sexually assaulted, but I also won’t forgive it. Saying you were assaulted and you weren’t makes it so disgusting. It is hard enough for anyone to admit that they have been assaulted. I am just not capable of understanding this.
So Steven (you won’t be able to convince me it wasn’t him) makes a Facebook group about Chris – calling him a rapist and naming Lucy. The invite is sent everywhere, but she’s alerted to it from Bree. For a minute I think that Bree is worthy of redemption because she realizes that everything is not about her.
Then again, which one of these people are really capable of being redeemed.
OTHER THOUGHTS
- Wrigley and Bree – we can all tell that’s going to happen, right?
- The ending – Bree you’re just like Steven
- I liked Alex, why does it make me so grossed out the way him and Lucy treat each other
- Wrigley and Bree staring at each other on the dance floor, you made that easy for Steven
