Who doesn’t love a crossover moment? We definitely do. This isn’t what I what I would call a crossover. It’s more like a hit it and quit it – acting style. What I love about CIA is that we’re getting this moment where Bill and Colin are working better together, even though they are both being dishonest with each other.
Does it matter right now? It always matters. The two are capable of solving anything – except the truth. While I love a crossover and I love Maggie and Isobel, I hate to say that they weren’t necessary in the episode. However a pep talk from Maggie is always a good time. She has a way about her.
It’s a big soccer match – North Korea vs. USA. Two players have gone missing from the North Korean team. Of course North Korea doesn’t want to tell anything, and there is a South Korean intelligence agent that knows Colin that wants to be looped in. Lots of diplomatic issues are going on, but I think that is where Bill shines.
Early on this is cemented as an FBI case. I do think that having Isobel around is to make us all know that. We needed someone in charge since Nikki is “visiting a cousin.” While that is important, I do believe that the importance of this episode doesn’t lie in that, but rather lies in the partnership that Bill and Colin have. It’s important that by this point in the series we start to believe that these two are looking out for each other.
What we do know from the beginning is that this is the seventh episode and we need to learn more about Colin and Bill, but we also need them to start to trust each other. And by the end of this episode we know that they just might.

GOAL!
A fake bomb is planted at the stadium triggering an evacuation. Two of the players from North Korea go missing and they aren’t being reported as missing. The coaches are hiding something. There is chaos.
But out of nowhere one of Colins old buddies from the South Korean intelligence agency. Colin has blinders on and sees only what he wants to see. It’s Bill that forces Colin to come face to face with who his “friend” truly is. Colin doesn’t want to recognize it but he realizes that his friend is most likely a double agent.
And when it is confirmed that he is – we are left with a character that changes in an instant.
When I look at CIA, I sometimes wonder what we are dealing with, because of the character development. I feel like we really haven’t gotten to know anyone, and I do think that’s partly intentional. I also, however, think that isn’t a good thing.
For a show to be successful, I feel that people need to be invested in the characters. CIA has under utilized the characters of Nikki and Gina. We don’t know what is real with Colin or Bill. I don’t care about who the mole is, because I am trying to figure out who the characters are. I feel as though the show needs to figure it out.

PARTNERS
What is always hard about CIA is that you want to believe that Bill and Colin are unable to trust each other. Rather than really communicate they fight like two women fighting over a man. It’s annoying, but it is also something that is the natural order of things on this show.
I have been waiting for the two to find a way to relate to each other and we finally got a moment.
Colin is one of those characters that is not quite understandable. He’s complex and he’s a good liar. He’s CIA after all. But seeing Colin put in a situation where he has to remember the hard times but also learn about who someone that he trusted with all his heart is – that was hard.
Tom Ellis shows a versatility that I didn’t expect in Colin. One that has both strengths and weaknesses, secrets and truths. But him telling Bill who Toni was happened to be one of the best things I have ever seen Ellis do. You just couldn’t help but feel Colins pain at that moment. It was a moment to watch.

WHO DO YOU TRUST
When Colins “friend” is going to kill him, I thought this has to be hard. When he’s told to tell Toni hi, I was hoping he’d be slapped silly. Bill is there to save him and then they are able to save the two soccer players. Colin is then able to save the little girl that North Korean spies are trying to find.
Where I was confused was when Bill turned down the US attorney, Lauren and said he was engaged. Ummm… I had to revisit where he said that in episode one. I forgot Katie existed. I think we need to meet her soon. Where is she? Does she exist? Are we sure Bill doesn’t have a blow up doll he named Katie?
The thing I do find myself doing is wanting to lay off my aversion to Bills sharp part in his hair, as well as what seems an inability to grow facial hair and appreciate Bill. Especially when he goes to Colins for a beer.
The whole scene at Colins apartment and the way that the two open up to each other makes me want to believe that we’re going to finally get character growth, team work, and some answers.

OTHER THOUGHTS
- The guy that could be Gina doing her thing – like no offense to you dude, but I miss Gina
- I am gonna keep saying that they under utilize the women in this show
- Don’t call it a crossover if the people crossing over have 2 minutes. It was like a Jubel sighting – quick and fast and leaving you unfulfilled.
- Colin with the little girl was so sweet
CIA airs Monday nights on CBS.
Great episode !. Both, Nick and Tom were sooo good acting. I think the best of Nick by far. And Tom, he touch my heart. Nice to see a little bit more action on Bill s caracter, with Lauren.
