The Pitt Season 3 is coming! After Season 2 earned itself 26 Emmy Award nominations—and Season 1 racked up a ton of honors at the Emmys, the Actor Awards (formerly SAG Awards), and everywhere in between—we’re excited to see what the next shift at PTMC brings. Check out everything we know about The Pitt Season 3 (so far), and make sure to check back frequently for more news!
Synopsis — what to expect
As a reminder, the official series logline is “THE PITT is a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh.”
In Season 2, it was the 4th of July shift; now, The Pitt Season 3 will take place on November 12, 2026. And, notably, it will be Dr. Robby’s (Noah Wyle) first day back after the sabbatical he desperately needed, yet kept delaying hour by hour, on his last day last season.
Cast
Before Season 2 concluded, we had a good news/bad news situation: Ayesha Harris, who plays Dr. Ellis, will now be a series regular. But Supriya Ganesh will not be returning as Dr. Mohan. (We discussed this a little bit in our review of the Season 2 finale.) Even so, there are plenty of characters—and their actors—who will return. Those are:
- Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch
- Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon
- Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans
- Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay
- Taylor Dearden as Dr. King (Mel)
- Isa Briones as Dr. Santos
- Gerran Howell as Dr. Whitaker
- Shabana Azeez as Javadi
- Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Al-Hashimi
- Shawn Hatosy as Dr. Abbot
Deadline also reported on some new faces joining The Pitt Season 3 cast as recurring guests. Those are:
- Stephen Chang (Bosch: Legacy, The Last of Us: Part II) as Mitch Connors, an Emergency Department patient
- Barry Clifton as (The Madison, The Thing About Pam) David “Bear” Burton, an Emergency Department patient
- Chris Diamantopoulos (Dark Matter, The Lincoln Lawyer) as Dr. Asher Grossman, CMO of PTMC
- Lawrence Kao (Criminal, Walker: Independence) as Harold Joslyn, an Emergency Department patient
- Brent Sexton (Deadwood, The Madison) as Daryl Oates, an Emergency Department patient
- JB Tadena (The Adventures of Cliff Booth, Kung Fu) as Dr. Reed Thomas
- Hannah Ware (The First, The One) as Charlotte Boyle, an Emergency Department patient
The Pitt Season 3 trailer
We don’t have a full teaser (yet!), but HBO Max has released its first The Pitt Season 3 teaser. Interestingly, this latest reunion for Robby and Dr. Langdon looks much more friendly than Langdon’s first day back last season.
Are there any pictures?
Along with the first teaser, HBO Max has released some first look images.

The Pitt Season 3 release date & how to watch
We don’t have an exact date yet, but we do know that The Pitt Season 3 will be available to stream on HBO Max beginning sometime in January 2027.
Is it renewed for Season 4?
So far, we don’t have word on The Pitt Season 4. But, if the pattern holds, we shouldn’t be waiting forever after the season ends to learn the series’ fate. We learned about Season 2 about a month after the series premiered, and the Season 3 renewal news came just before Season 2 became available to stream.
