If you’ve been missing Peter Krause since his sudden departure from ABC’s 9-1-1, then you’re in luck. Krause is heading back to network television in the form of the law enforcement drama Line of Fire.

What is Line of Fire about?
The official logline for the show reads:
“A family of law enforcement agents bridges personal differences and crosses professional boundaries as they tackle cases for the FBI, US Marshals, Secret Service, and Department of Justice. After a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy, they must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice… even if it means betraying their sworn code.”
And the updated synopsis after the 2026 NBCU Upfront reads:
“When a U.S. Marshal falls in the line of duty, a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy as a family of law enforcement agents become the target of a mysterious assassin. Bridging personal differences and crossing professional boundaries, the Hollingsworth family must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice … even if it means betraying their sworn code.”

Who stars in Line of Fire?
Peter Krause stars alongside Hope Davis (Your Honor), Kat Cunning (The Deuce), Tommy O’Brien (Grown-ish), and Taylor Bloom (American Horror Story). They are the core Hollingsworth family members. Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll) also joins the cast.
According to a TV Insider interview at ATX TV Festival, Krause revealed that his character is in the Secret Service. David, his TV wide, is a federal marshal. Their daughter is in the FBI. One of his son’s is also in the Secret Service. And… he may or may not be having an affair with the president’s daughter. Then there’s the other son. He works in the Department of Justice.
Also, when talking about why he loves doing dramas so much, his answer teases what’s to come for Line of Fire. He said, “Because you have these familial relationships of familiarity breeds contempt, right? I had a therapist who once said, because I was talking about my dad, ‘You know why your parents can push your button so well?’ And he said, ‘Because they installed it.’ But that is the fun of these kinds of shows is because then you can be open and be irritated and all that and feel sorry.”
Outside of the main cast, Deadline announced that Sam Waterston (Law & Order, Grace and Frankie), Campbell Scott (Furious) and Chris Chalk (It: Welcome to Derry) are set to guest star in the first season of the show. And we know exactly who they will be playing. Hint: it’s all politicians!
Waterston will play former President Thomas Barnes. According to the description, “he and Mike have a deep bond, but Mike is haunted by a close call from his time on detail.” Scott, meanwhile, will play Terry, a U.S. Senator who is Jane’s boyfriend. The description says he’s “hoping to move their relationship to the next level but knows that Jane’s first priorities will always be her work and her family.”
Finally, Chalk will play current President Kayana, “who’s strong and decisive but worries his numbers are not where they should be and is seeking to course correct.”

NBC confirmed that Line of Fire will premiere Monday, September 21st at 10 p.m. ET.
