We watch a lot of TV and movies! And we listen to a lot of music, podcasts, audiobooks…so yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
What You’re Fangirling Over This Week
Shana: Really the entirety of Interview with the Vampire 2×05. But if I absolutely had to narrow it down to just one scene, it’d be the one I watched a few hundred times on repeat trying to count every single “Lestat.” See also: If Assad Zaman has no fans, that means I am dead.
Amanda P: I have so many thoughts about Bridgerton that I could probably use them to fill every question here! But I will just say how much I loved the overall arc between Penelope and Colin, especially after their engagement. This season was truly one for the “wallflowers” who are also yearning romantics – the ones who have never known what it’s like to be picked by someone, and who struggle to believe it’s real or that they are worthy of that kind of love.
Rachel: Bridgerton season 3 part 2 of course! The angsty half of the season was never going to be my favorite part because TV writers always make it worse than necessary and most viewers are just used to it.
But the mirror love scene, the few happy parts of the wedding, and the happy ending was the Polin content I can get behind. That stuff was probably as romantic as Shondaland will allow themselves to get. I relate so much to Penelope and seeing her get the love she deserves was what I’ll focus on.
Ashley W.: Sabrina Carpenter using the Spider-Man pointing meme to celebrate her success is amazing, spectacular, and — of course — iconic.
Jasmine: I’m going to have to agree with Shana because season two of Interview with the Vampire has been exceptional. I definitely agree that Zaman has been absolutely amazing as Armand. He’s captivating. He has fantastic chemistry with Jacob Anderson. Watching them have that argument and hearing the Venom and annoyance as he voiced his frustration over Louis being unable to let go of Lestat was chef’s kiss. This woman here is definitely a fan.
WTF Moment of the Week
Shana: The end of this week’s Criminal Minds: Evolution. Having terrible flashbacks to the “save the CM ladies” war…
Amanda P.: How on earth did the Tony organizers not have Stereophonic on their initial list of performers? I’m glad they eventually invited them after the outcry, but, come on.
Rachel: For a GOOD unexpected surprise this week, how about the fact that we’re getting a Practical Magic sequel?!?!?
What We’re Listening to This Week
Amanda P.: It’s Tonys week, which means I’m re-listening to as many cast albums from this season as I can! Suffs: going to be in everyone’s audition books by the time the new school year/audition cycles start. The Notebook: should have been nominated, WTF. The Heart of Rock and Roll: giddy, gleeful, and the only truly fun new musical this season.
Ashley W.: The original Broadway cast recording for The Heart of Rock and Roll was just released, and it is being played on repeat! The show is a jukebox musical featuring songs by Huey Lewis and the News, so I’m already familiar with some of the ones featured on the album.
But it’s cool to hear a different take on them and get an idea of how they work to tell a story. The album is so much fun and has also reminded me of just how much I absolutely love Corey Cott(‘s voice). The way he sings the line “Girl don’t lie” in “If This Is It” makes me swoon and go full fangirl.
Jasmine: I’m going to see PVRIS on tour this summer so I’ve been listening to their music a lot. But, honestly I love Lynn Gunn so much that I really don’t need a reason to listen to her album’s. A concert is a pretty good excuse though.
What We Rewatched This Week
Rachel: I rewatched Inside Out this week because Inside Out 2 is coming out. It is still one of Pixar’s best, and that’s saying something. The cleverness of the script and visuals, the effective laughs, and the genuine emotion are just exceptional.
Ashley W.: One of the best things that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ever did is add Daniel Sousa — a character from a completely different Marvel TV show, Agent Carter — and include him in the series’s final season. The four-year anniversary of Sousa’s first AoS episode, 7×03: “Alien Commies from the Future!” just passed.
So, me being the sentimental AoS fangirl and Daniel Sousa superfan that I am, I rewatched the episode in honor of the occasion. I love it just as much as I did when I first saw it four years ago, and it continues to bring me such joy.
His first scene? Iconic and one that lives up to his legendary status in that universe. And the scene in his office where he meets Daisy Johnson? Perfect and such a great representation of a dynamic we get to see more of as the season progresses.
Also, I had to rewatch Fantastic Four (2005) in honor of Chris Evans’s birthday, as that’s the film that not only really got my Chris Evans fandom started but my Marvel fandom as well.
Jasmine: I just started a rewatch of Sailor Moon. I’m only on episode two of the first season, but it’s creating so much nostalgia from my childhood watching it. It’s interesting to watch a show you grew up with as a kid, in your adult years. You see everything in a different way.
Badass Character of the Week
Shana: I mean. Sister Andrea took down two demons — one with shears! — and had that bittersweet moment with Father Ignatius. Obviously, her.
Rachel: That would be Penelope Featherington– now Bridgerton– in part 2 of Bridgerton season 3. Lady Whistledown herself. Only answer for me.
Raquel: I have to agree with Rachel on this one. Penelope finally had the confidence to stand by herself in front of the entire Ton in Bridgerton season 3 Part 2 and, not only that, she lets her husband know that all she needs is for him to be by her side, not to do things for her.
