If you are a Halsey fan like we are then we know you were just as excited as us to see the cover art and get a release date for her fourth album. We have told you time and time again that Halsey does not do anything small. Her reveals are always a big deal (See her Manic album cover reveal) and they do not disappoint. As you know, on June 28th, Halsey revealed a billboard with the title of her album and let us all know that it was produced by Nine Inch Nails members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. A few days later, Halsey took to Twitter to inform us that she had a “very special album artwork reveal and release date announcement.”
And it was indeed incredibly special. In a 13-minute video, Halsey, looking quite regal in a silvery halter showcasing her baby bump and covered in an orange-colored wrap, walks barefoot through the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She takes us along on a tour of the artwork as she goes from room to room. She stops at a few paintings and reflects as she cradles her belly. There is a great thread on twitter from a Halsey fan who breaks down each one of the paintings Halsey stopped to look at. The video ends with Halsey walking up to a portrait covered in a burgundy curtain which she removes to reveal a stunning picture. Halsey, cradling a child in the same manner as the women in the portraits she has just viewed, sits atop a golden throne that gave me major GOT vibes.

She looks incredibly beautiful and the message behind the image is so important. Halsey had this to say about the cover art for If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power:

As we said, Halsey always goes big but most importantly, she always delivers a message and this one is so important. The fact that the photo has already been deleted a few times by Instagram only solidifies what Halsey’s message is. The viewers of the image are sexualizing it because her breast is out. I for one don’t see the big deal. I have seen so much more on Instagram and Twitter than a breast, so all the people out there shouting their disdain for it need to shut the hell up or better yet, don’t look at it if if it bothers them so much.

Halsey’s fourth album is set to release on August 27th and is already available for preorder. The artwork is amazing, and I cannot wait for the track list and to find out what her first single will be.
