Things on the Upper East Side aren’t always pretty and tied up in a bow. Hell most of the time it’s not pretty. But when the curtains come down and the games begin, is when you either grow or you stay stagnant.
Choice is yours.
Or is it?
Episode 3 of Gossip Girl brings all the drama and all the heartache. When will all of them learn that in this day and age, the mice will play and social media will broadcast it. And social media isn’t just Instagram, Twitter, and such….
Consider anything on your phone fair game.

TEACHER TAKEDOWN
Gossip Girl is a problem. It’s not only a problem for the students, but also for the parents. The parents know if their kids secrets are outed than it can affect them. They want their secrets buried too.
When a teacher conference is called, the head mistress has let them know that one of the parents donated the services of a securities firm to find Gossip Girl. And we all know that Cyber Securities Firms are nothing to be fucked with.
The teachers are panicking and I can’t stop laughing when the computer sciences teacher is like “I put up a firewall.” But hey, the nerds are the ones that you have to look out for.
What I do have to say, Kate scares me. She is a teacher version of Julien and her value is being placed on Gossip Girl‘s worth. She doesn’t want to get caught and lose her job, but she also likes the fact that she’s got power. The power that she gets from Gossip Girl has made her feel as if she can do anything.
But the truth is we all would love that power. Who wouldn’t?
The teachers know that they have to throw someone off their scent. They need a fall guy, but what is hard to see is that they decide that it is one of their own. And what’s even harder to see is that she doesn’t realize that she’s the fall guy.
Playing the Gossip Girl game is keeping the students in check but what it’s also doing is making the teachers people that they don’t recognize.
And that’s kind of sad. But then again, I am here for it – because I am LOVING the drama.

NO ONE WANTS ME
Julien, oh Julien. Let me tell you where your first problem lies – Monet and Luna. These two are as toxic as the day is long. I know, I know – Julien isn’t my favorite, but I don’t even think she notices that the way these two influence her is not a healthy. They want the fame, the glory, the attention. And yes, Julien has gotten wrapped up in it too, but they perpetuate it on a level that is both sad down right demented.
They want to be on top of the social ladder and measure that by likes. As they see Julien going down, they want to attach themselves to Zoya, because she will give them the power that they want.
And how do they do that? Bring Zoya down and make her believe that she needs them.
But Max has decided that he’s going to take Julien for a night on the town. After all, all the people that she’s tried to move on from Obie with, don’t want to be with her. Max has told her that they don’t want to be with her because her life is so curated and they want someone that is real.
And to be honest, I get that. No one wants to be that exposed, but also it’s hard to be with someone who doesn’t know who they are.
A night out with Max looks like an amazing time. Julien’s in a killer catsuit that I would not ever have the courage to wear. And I am not even talking based on my size, it’s cause I like my ass covered. But she looks amazing and the confidence that she has – I am in awe.
But this is the Upper East Side and when you are out, the lies get exposed. Julien is out and she sees her Dad with someone. He had told her that he was in Berlin. It’s hard when you know that someone lied to you, especially someone that you think you have a great relationship with.
At the same moment Max finds that his Dad is on a Grindr like app. And he’s broken and mad. I think Max has always respected his Dads because they have taught him to live his most authentic life. And he’s always felt that support. So seeing that his Dad is doing things that are wrong, and hurtful to the place that he’s stable is too much for him.
Not that I advocate bad things happening but it takes this to remind us that Max can vulnerable. He’s this kid that thinks he always has to be strong, and always has to be aloof.
But he can hurt.

IMPRESS THE PARENTS
One thing that I love about Obie is that he isn’t on social media. He doesn’t follow what the world dictates. He worries about himself and the way the world can improve.
Zoya on the other hand, she follows social media. She is a kid and is consumed by it.
But Obie comforts her and he brings out the best in her. He doesn’t want her to worry about the world outside and wants her to see just how special that she is. I love that Obie wants to spend every moment with her, wants to grow from her and her grow from him. I just love Zobie.
She tells him that her Dad wants to get to know him better and so she invites him over for dinner. My favorite thing about this? The fact that he gets a down home good old batch of pasta and not that ritzy shit. But also because it doesn’t phase Obie that he’s getting Ragu instead of chef made shit.
Yes, I tend to like to use the word shit.
The way that Zoya and Obie look at each other and the way that they are so comforted by each other. But I like that Zoya’s Dad sees that he is good for his daughter.
Luna has gone online and gotten everyone to trend #Zugly. It hurts her. Luna, you’re a bitch, you are messing with a child.
I would like to learn more about Luna, because I think that maybe if we knew more about Luna and Monet, we would understand why they are so cruel.
Luna has got it in Zoya’s head that she needs to be a certain way because she’s with Obie. But I wonder if Zoya realizes that if Obie wants to be with her, he wants to be with her the way she is.
And everything that Luna does is to make Zoya think that she doesn’t fit in and it is only for her benefit – not Zoya’s.

A LIE EXPOSED
Max has scored tickets to a play (which I never want to see and not cause I don’t wanna see a play, but because the guys is running around naked and covering in blood and made me jump) and takes all of his friends.
But him and Julien have set up their Dads to expose their secrets. Personally, I would have just gone to my Dad and asked questions, but I know that it doesn’t make for good TV.
Julien sets her Dad up to let him know that she knows that he has a girlfriend. I feel bad for the girlfriend cause she’s set up and it’s harsh to mess with peoples feelings. I wanna see Julien grow, but girl is just so angry.
I feel for her Dad, because she lets him know she’s mad. But I don’t think that it’s because her Dad is dating, it’s because it’s them against the world and his whole world has been a lie. So in typical Julien form, she lashes out and lashes out hard.
Max has also devised a plan. He’s got Aki to make a fake profile and Catfish his Dad. Which is all sorts of twisted. He had Aki pose as his teacher. And then he brings the teacher to the play to make his Dad feel all sorts of uncomfortable.
What I don’t like is that Max tells his Dads what is going on. His Dad has gone online and tried to find someone else. And his Pops has told his Dad that he doesn’t know if he’s attracted to him anymore. It’s heartbreaking to watch.
It’s heartbreaking to see everyone break. But as hard as it is to watch Max break – it’s even harder to see him ask his Pops how he could do this to us. He took their family for granted. I can see this meaning Max is going to go off the rails
When Aki and Audrey try to save Max from himself, Max breaks all of the truth out. He tells Audrey that Aki wanted to sleep with him and tells Aki that he slept with Audrey. He’s not giving a shit how much he hurts others.
Max ends up on his teachers doorstep and crying on his shoulder. I for the life of me, can not understand why he lets Max stay the night, because Gossip Girl will out their asses if she finds out. Taking anyone down is not beyond any of them.

TAKE YOUR FAULT
Zoya is young but she is wise. She was trying to be who she thought that she should be on her date with Obie, and he was way confused. But rather than out what Luna said, she brings him a reality check.
When Zoya goes looking for him and finds him outside, she tells him that when she showed up and he liked the way she looked, she thought he really didn’t want a change, he wanted the picture perfect girl on his arm. But that’s not her.
And though his response of you understand why he ended it with Julien makes me wanna snatch his curls and be like listen to what you’re saying, it’s Zoya’s response that makes me realize she gets it. But what Zoya gets is that he needs to take his responsibility in it all too. It’s hard to date him.
It’s hard to date the Prince of New York when even he won’t admit that is who he really is.
I love that Obie realizes he needs to take his responsibility and he tells Julien he wants to talk. She deserved for him to take responsibility for his actions and who he was. And she deserved to say her peace.
For the first time we get to see Julien claim her strength. We get to see her take it in so many places – with Obie and with her Dad. And I have never been so proud.
And we’re only on episode 3, so whatever happens next, how can it get more iconic? This is Gossip Girl – shit can only get more dramatic.
Side Note: Whatever information you are gonna release Luna, I curse you.
