Most of us have had that moment before. That moment where all we can think about is the mind blowing sex that we had. It’s like everything in life reminds you of that person, the feel of their hands on you, the way they made you come alive.
And whereas Emily In Paris could have shied away from that moment, they knew we’d all be pissed. We’d be pissed because Gabriel and Emily – they’re the ship. They’re the end game. They’re what we’ve been waiting for.
Like a lot of you, I settled in to watch and wait. Wait for my ship to set sail, bask in its greatness. Sure, I knew that there would be drama because having to tell Camille, we knew that there would be issues. But all I wanted was for my ship to set sail.
Emily can’t stop thinking about Gabriel and it’s definitely turning into a thing. She breaks and tells Mindy that she slept with Gabriel and like the friend that I am, Mindy is like get it girl. This is why I love Mindy, because she isn’t afraid to be there for her friends. And she says the shit that maybe you shouldn’t but shit that we’re all thinking.
I don’t feel like Emily has anything to be sorry for. Why? Gabriel and Camille were broken up. She went to say goodbye. Shit happened. So Emily fell on his dick, it happens. Trust, it happens (and don’t judge those of us that it has happened to).
But Emily is determined that nothing will happen between her and Gabriel. She wants to put chics before dicks, but girl, sometimes when a man makes your toes curl and your neck pop back – you need to reassess the situation. You can make new friends.
Maybe that’s just me though. It’s a pandemic – I appreciate things differently.
Emily is trying to move forward and act like nothing happened, but hey, she can’t pull that off. She’s obviously in love with Gabriel and is forcing the situation with Cami. But she can’t avoid it because Cami is her friend and Savoir is representing Cami’s parents’ company.
But the thing is, well for me, is that Emily isn’t taking for granted Gabriel’s feelings also. She is so worried about keeping her friendship, but she’s taking for granted that this entire time he’s fallen for her too. You can see it in the way that he looks at her. The way he wants to succeed and have her approval.
YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE WAY HE STAYED FOR HER.
Why do I love Gabriel and Emily together? Sometimes ships are hard to explain. Sometimes ships are just something that you feel. It’s the way that people together bring something out of you. It’s seeing the way that they move, talk, fight. It’s the way that they hold each other up or actually hold each other.
Gabriel and Emily is something hard to explain. But her and Gabriel are meant to be and we’re in it for the long run. Sorry not sorry Cami.
Emily, ever the martyr, tells him that she can’t do this – that she can’t hurt Cami like that. Whereas I do get her reasoning she says she slept with Gabriel, but we all know that’s bullshit. She wanted him and wanted to be with him. And as if she’s not put enough on him, her being like I am going to St Tropez with Matheiu – don’t make me slap you silly Emily.
I get that in her head she’s protecting people that she loves. But she’s also screwing with a lot of emotions and that is not fair to anyone. Normally, there is nothing but love for Emily, but right now, she’s just pissing me off.
CAMI THE CLiENT
Emily has to see Cami at the office and she’s not covering shit well. As a matter of fact, Emily is so obvious that something is wrong, but Cami is so wrapped up in her own life that she’s not seeing what is going on.
Cami is happy and upset that Gabriel is staying in Paris. She’s upset because he’s not staying for her. Umm… ok. Selfish much? Like I get it, you want to know why things changed. We all would. But that doesn’t give you the right to be an asshole. Wallow in your pain, go out with your friends, but you know – let it go. If you don’t trust him and you believe that he’s staying for someone else (yes, she is right on the money, but besides the point), then LET HIM GO.
Or you know, be a woman and ask him about it. Don’t make your friends miserable. Because right now Cami, you don’t seem like you’re going to do anything.
I feel for Cami, she’s been with Gabriel for so long, it feels comfortable, and she’s afraid of what to do without him. Complacency though isn’t an excuse to be a selfish bitch.
She wants to go to lunch with Emily and Emily of course, drags someone else along. But we’re not complaining because we love Sylvie and she tells it like it is. Sylvie can see what Cami and Emily can’t and her insight is always an amazing thing. Partially because she’s blunt, but partially because Sylvie is such a mystery with no fucks to give.
And we can get with that. Sylvie is how we all should be.
Emily can deny all she wants that she doesn’t want to be with Gabriel, but Sylvie sees it. Cami, however, is oblivious to anything but her own pity party.
I truly think that Emily sleeping with Gabriel is the modern day debate of “we were on a break.” That is once Cami finds out – which I do believe that she will, cause drama. You know we love drama and you all can sit and say you don’t want her to find out or be hurt, but like you know you’re living for the upcoming drama too.
MINDY IS THE STAR OF THE SHOW
There are no words for how much we love Mindy. We know that she’s having some issues in Paris, as she has no papers. But Mindy is meant for amazing things and you’ll never convince us otherwise.
She is a super talent.
She’s out in the world hustling and she gets a job at a club, singing. Look, Mindy deserves to be a huge world renowned talent, but we all struggle. We all have to fight to get to where we need to be. And honestly, part of the reason I love watching Emily In Paris is because of Mindy.
She’s this character that you know that no matter what is going to fight and go above and beyond. She’s never going to give up on her dreams and we love her for that.
Mindy tries to get Emily to get as many people together as possible to come and see her perform in a drag show. I feel like there should be a whole article dedicated to how amazing her costume is.
The one thing that I can say about Emily is that she is that friend who always wants to show up for her friends, but when Mindy says not to come, Emily ignores her? Why? Because Cami is with her and she came to close to figuring out that the pan in Emily’s apartment was from Gabriel.
Mindy’s job is not turning out to be what she thought it would be. See, she’s gotten the job of being the lady of the toilet, because she doesn’t have papers. But she gets to sing one song a night.
And when she sings – she captivates. She is a fucking star and should be treated like one.
Emily, Cami, and Luke show up for her show and cheer her on. It’s a great thing to see her be supported and one thing that we’re (we’re meaning me) hoping for is that Mindy gets more of a storyline this season. She’s got so much potential as a character.
When they leave the club, Emily, Cami, and Mindy are walking home. It’s Mindy who keeps having to ask Emily if she knows what she’s doing, because she knows that Emily doesn’t know what she’s doing.
Sometimes I think Mindy is better than all of us and at other times I know she is. This is one of those other times.
JULIAN HAS HIS OWN ACCOUNT
One of the best parts of Emily in Paris are Luke and Julian. They are amazing.
Julian has his first client – Rimowa luggage. Don’t get me started on how overpriced this luggage is. Totally get that it’s “luxury” and that people love it, but ya, hard pass. However, it’s up to Julian to come up with a campaign, and he comes up with a great one. It’s just not what the client wants.
They want something like what they did for Pierre, and rather than watch Julian crash and burn – she jumps in and suggests a collab.
Do I get that Julian isn’t happy about the situation? Of course. But like also, he should know that Emily would never, ever try and take anything away from him. She’s one person who wants nothing more than to see him succeed. Yes, She’s also a company girl and wants the company to succeed, but I think that we’ve all seen that she will put relationships first.
And hey, she’s not wanting credit. She wants to give it to him. But, when a suitcase arrives with Pierre’s face on it, for her, he’s pissed and tells her that they are no longer friends, they are competitors.
I love his bitch fit – so I ain’t even made about it.
BE CAREFUL ON THE PHONE
So, Emily STUPIDLY heads off to St. Tropez, cause again, fucking with someones emotions seems to be okay for her. Mathieu is someone she likes, but she slept with someone else, she is IN LOVE with someone else, and so like girl… the best way to get over someone is not to get under someone else.
Well, it is, but like I am trying to be a better person here.
Gabriel calls her and he can’t believe that she’s being the way that she is. He can’t stop thinking about her. He wants to be with her. She admits that she can’t stop thinking about him and wants to be with him too, but she can’t do that to Cami.
Mathieu overhears the whole thing and leaves the train – leaving Emily to her self. Like even offers up the hotel and tells her to have fun with her boyfriend.
Emily protests, that Gabriel isn’t her boyfriend. But that’s not the point. She’s missing the point.
Everyone can see her feelings but her.
