One great thing that we have to look forward to this week is the premiere of the second season of Emily In Paris. We love the show and think that the second season is even better than the first.
One thing that you will notice in the second season is that there is no Covid. At first it was a little confusing, because so many shows have integrated the pandemic into their storylines.
The shows star, Lily Collins, spoke with Variety and explained why it is that you won’t see Covid-19 as part of the storyline.
“Season 1 allowed us an escapism when it came out that it felt it was something that needed to continue — not addressing it because it brings a sense of escapism and joy and laughter in a time that we need it the most,” she said.
We couldn’t agree more. Collins went on to talk about filming in Paris during the pandemic, when so many protocols were in place.
“Shooting a show in a city that is highly populated where people are wearing masks, yet we’re shooting in a world that doesn’t exist with COVID — so it’s making sure that when we’re rolling the masks are off and when we stop rolling they come back on,” she said. “There were a couple of times when they started shooting and I was like, ‘Wait, half the people in the scene are still wearing masks.’”
We’re thankful that Emily In Paris is going to give us all a bit of escapism. We need it.
Emily in Paris starts streaming on Netflix, December 22nd.
