Love is Blind season 2 tests what it means to fall in love. Do looks, money, and other things matter when it comes to the matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with who someone is, sight unseen? Again, we are watching a bunch of hopefuls navigate these questions in season 2 of the series. And after doing a breakdown of episodes 1-5, we’re back for episodes 6-9!
Compare your feelings from the first 5 episodes to these next four. Who surprised you for the better and who ended up being worse than you thought?
Lizzie: Dear God, Shaina. I had no expectations for you and you still manage to be worse than anything I could have thought. You’re no Jessica, only because at least you dropped Kyle right away, so we didn’t have to put up with you creating drama at every second. But boooy, you tried. Plus, the way you treated Kyle? You should have said no right away. Why make him go through all of this? He isn’t my favorite, but no one deserves to be treated like he was. And to pretend the reason you were saying no was religion, when it was really that you were still into Shayne? Shame, shame, shame.
Plus, plus ….that thing with Natalie, and Shayne later? Like what in the world? You told the man how you felt, he still chose Natalie, that’s it. Why are you there trying to, what? Make him change his mind? Ruin his relationship for shits and giggles? Make Natalie feel bad? Either way, it’s a bad look.
As for surprising me for the better, I’d say Shayne’s reaction to Shaina was …much better than I expected. Like, I expected him to spiral because of it, I expected him to let her words affect him, and he didn’t. So that’s shocking. In a good way, but shocking.
Lyra: I’m with Lizzie on this one. Shaina. Just everything about her makes me wish that we had Jessica back from season 1. Because Shaina makes Jessica look like an angel in comparison. What did Shaina think she was going to achieve with her conversation with Shayne? It was manipulative and textbook gaslighting to the point where I had to take a break because of this woman’s audacity. To think that someone believes the world revolves around them like that that they would sabotage other relationships for their selfish needs is…well, selfish.
And then there’s Shake. I was hoping to see continued growth with him where he would prove that love is truly blind. But his continued, “I’m not attracted to Deepti” was such a buzzkill, especially paired with his continued attempts to continue on with the marriage while letting her believe there was a chance. Let’s be honest. You don’t feel that way for the lovely beauty that is Deepti. That’s it. And you need to set her free and stop dragging her down with you because you can’t admit the truth. Be friends. Stay close. But stop lying to our girl. She deserves the truth, at the very least.
Rank your couples again, has your ranking changed?
Lizzie: I mean, not really? I still like Sal and Mallory more than everyone else, I still think Shayne and Natalie are better than expected, I still think Daniele and Nick are so bad at communicating and have so much baggage I’m not sure how they can make the relationship work long-term, and I still feel Iyanna deserves better than Jarette. If anything, these episodes just reaffirmed my initial ideas about the couples — or perhaps not my initial ideas, everyone looked much better in the pods than they looked in Cancun.
But I think these episodes also sorta made me, in a way season 1 didn’t because Lauren and Cameron were out there making it look easy, realize how insane this whole thing is. It shouldn’t work. And if it does, that’s a miracle. Not because you cannot develop feelings for someone very quickly and without seeing them, but because long-lasting love is about more than those feelings, it’s about making a choice, and these people just don’t know each other well enough to understand the choices they’re making, so that’s a recipe for disaster.
Lyra: I think that episodes 6-9 really clarified some things for me when it comes to Love is Blind season 2. Because before, I had some top couples. Now I’m certain of the order of it all and who are my favorites. Definitely at the top is Mallory and Salvador. They are just everything to me. Next up are Natalie and Shayne. There is something about them that just clicks and after everything that we saw with the families, I think they’re a match. Following that are Iyanna and Jarrette because of Iyanna alone.
Now, there are the rest. Danielle and Nick? I couldn’t care less. I did before, not going to lie. But the more that I see of them, the more I’ve come to realize that they don’t even really like each other that much or even make sense. Because if they did, they wouldn’t be having the petty arguments that keep popping up. And then there’s Deepti and Shake. She deserves better. End of story. Bye, Shake and never come back to my life of eyesight. We are done with you and your talking behind her back to everyone and their mom.
Bet on one couple, just one, who you think is getting married.
Lizzie: Danielle and Nick are getting married FOR SURE. I’m not sure it’s going to work out long term, it could, but they are going to have to really work at it, and I’m not quite sure they understand how much work comes after the wedding, but I’m sure they’re getting married.
I really, really hope my faves Mallory and Salvador get married too. They feel like they have the best chance at something real, and long-lasting. So I’m truly rooting for them.
Lyra: Mallory and Salvador, hands down. I just don’t see any other couple that has what they have. Sure, Danielle and Nick are probably going to get married too, but they don’t have my heart; Sal and Mallory do. Maybe it’s because I see bits of myself in them or want a love that grows like theirs does. Whatever it is that draws me to them, I need to see them tie the knot. If not, is love real? Because I will question it, Love is Blind season 2!
As for the others…I do hope that Iyanna gets married because she chooses to. She deserves all the happiness and if Jarrette is the one for her, then so be it. And when you strip away the stuff that’s happened to them in the past or Jarrette’s indecision, they really do match up so well and have great chemistry. Here’s to watching them grow past their anxieties and doubts and live a happy life, maybe even together.
