Big Sky 2×10 “Happy Thoughts” was anything but filled with happy thoughts. Are we really surprised though with a show like this one? There’s always something happening. Cassie is still dealing with the aftermath of her father’s murder, all of the kids have finally confessed to the adults in their lives about everything they’ve been involved in, and Travis AKA Stone was dumped in a hole by Dietrich and Bob.
See, no happy thoughts there. Let’s discuss the episode.
On The Run Again

Ronald and Scarlett are on the run again with Phoebe and if I’m being honest, they would have been better off staying with Wolf. Aside from the Wolf may need to “put Ronald down” thing they really didn’t have to worry about anyone finding them. Being on the run is hard and this time Ronald is gravely injured so there is a very strong possibility he might die. Now, I’m going to say this, I know I was upset that he made it out of Wolf’s grasp, but I do not want him to die before Cassie can get her hands on him. Seriously if that moment gets taken away from us, I will be so upset.
Ronald and Scarlet have this idea that they are going to ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after with Phoebe but that’s not the case. First of all, Ronald is a wanted murderer so they will never have peace. For goodness sake, the man is basically at deaths’ door, yet he still managed to murder the housekeeper of the hotel they were staying in. Scarlet is no better and has her own fair share of issues. Also, we feel really bad for Phoebe. She’s just a kid and after witnessing everything her mom and Ronald have done, she’s going to be in therapy for the rest of her life.
Following New Leads

Jenny’s been doing a lot of groundwork to try and bring down the Bhullar cartel so Max and Harper showing up to confess everything they did and what they know is a big help. That is until Bridger just derailed the whole thing. Jenny knows that Jag Bhullar Ren’s brother had something to do with the death of Bridgers sensei. She had Jag and his henchman Dhruv in custody, and she was so sure she was about to nail his ass. In order to do that, she had to get a positive identification from the witness which was Bridger.
Unfortunately, Jenny was a little late getting to Bridger because as luck would have it, Ren got to him and his family first by making some of her good old-fashioned threats to do them all harm. Because of that Jenny wasn’t able to get the ID. Now she’s still going to have to rely on both Max and Harper to help her stop the cartel. That’s also something that might also prove to be a challenge considering Max and her mom were both kidnapped at the end of the episode. So now, in the midst of trying to stop the cartel, Jenny has to rescue Max and her mom.
Daddy’s Home

Just as we suspected, Ren and Jag’s father Verr Bhullar (Bernard White) has arrived in Montana. We were not surprised in the slightest when he showed up because throughout the show, we’ve constantly heard “dad this and dad that.” Also, why do the Big Sky writers keep on bringing in these douchey men who constantly step in to try and run over the women? Jag literally said the exact same thing to Ren he said in episode 2×09 “Trust Issues.” That “StAy In YoUr LaNe” and “KnOw YoUr PlAcE” bullshit is getting old. Ren’s a bit of a wild card at times but she’s started to grow on me a little.
Ren is a strategic woman, and she knows she’s gotta be just as good if not better than her brother and she’s proved that. Sure, she hasn’t gotten their missing money and drugs back yet but, she’s resourceful. She’s trying to start her own distribution syndicate in Montana because she thinks it’s a quaint place nobody would ever suspect. Granted the idea came from Tonya (yes Tonya is back) but Ren is trying to forge her own path however twisted it may be. It was pretty shitty of her stupid brother to take all the credit and present the idea to their dad as if it were his own.
Revenge Is Within Reach

Travis AKA stone was almost a dead man after Dietrich and Bob dumped into the same hole, he had put T-Lock in. To stop this from happening Travis did something I was not expecting by blowing his own cover to reveal that he is a cop. That could have gone a completely different way and Dietrich could have decided to kill him on the spot, but he didn’t. After some bargaining, Travis told Dietrich that he could help him get his money back and bring down the Bhullar clan at the same time.
Obviously, there is going to be a lot of trust issues with these guys. Like Dietrich, Travis has his own reasons for going after the Bhullars and I’m interested to see what will happen once they do all get what they want. It’s not going to end well I know that much.
Other Thoughts

- Pretty sure Phoebe telling Ronald she had a dream he was going to die is foreshadowing.
- What happened to Creary? Haven’t seen him in a while since the kids helped him.
- Deputy Poppernak is pretty good at his job and not such a bad partner for Jenny.
- Wolf is alive but Agatha isn’t. That’s definitely going to be enough motivation to make him hunt for Ronald harder and help Cassie and Lindor apprehend him.
- Really starting to think that Tonya has a plan to bring Ren down. She may be working on starting her own syndicate in Montana. It would really be silly of us to think that she’s totally over what they did to her man.
- Jag is an asshole.
- Jenny couldn’t tell that Travis was pumping her for information? Come on. He was a little obvious in my opinion. His demeanor was off.
- We always love a Cassie/Lindor team up.
