The Gray Man universe is expanding over on Netflix!
Following a successful release this past weekend, where it debuted as the #1 movie in 92 countries, Netflix announced its plans to expand on this universe. With a score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, the spy thriller is set to turn into a spy franchise. What’s even more exciting is that Ryan Gosling is set to return. Not only that, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are also returning to this world.
But wait, there’s more. A spin-off film is in the works as well. Written by acclaimed screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, it’s going to explore a different element of The Gray Man universe. And with a logline that is being kept under wraps, we hope that it focuses on the women of this universe and their adventures because Ana de Armas can’t be the only baddie we get to know.
The Gray Man is based on the best-selling book series by Mark Greaney. It’s the third film from Mike Laracca’s AGBO to premiere on Netflix. AGBO is an independent studio that focuses on developing and producing intellectual property universes spanning film, TV, audio, and interactive experiences. Along with the Russo brothers, their mission is to innovate and change the game when it comes to storytelling.
According to Joe and Anthony Russo: “The audience reaction to The Gray Man has been nothing short of phenomenal. We are so appreciative of the enthusiasm that fans across the world have had for this film. With so many amazing characters in the movie, we had always intended for the Gray Man to be part of an expanded universe, and we are thrilled that Netflix is announcing a sequel with Ryan, as well as a second script that we’re excited to talk about soon.”
The Gray Man is now available on Netflix.
