When it comes to Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber, the world is filled with a lot of opinions. It’s either you are angry about them, don’t care about them, or you have moved on. At least that’s the spectrum of people in my life.
One thing that I have learned in life is that the media has a way of influencing us, but behind the scenes something completely different is going on. However, a lot of our feelings are based on what we see and that means that the narrative we embrace is sometimes wrong.
I don’t know what happened with Selena and Justin. Selena has always been candid about life, which I appreciate. Her song, Loose You To Love Me, made me think of things in a different way.
It made me realize that we don’t know her pain, but it felt like she was saying that the end of her relationship was the best thing for her. And before you all come for me, that’s a personal opinion. We all interpret things in different ways.
Now, the thing is that none of them have ever talked publicly about the whole thing. Until now.
Hailey Beiber is the guest on this weeks episode of Call Her Daddy and if you’ve ever listened to the podcast, you know that Alexandra Cooper isn’t afraid to ask the hard questions. As a matter of fact, she creates a safe space to discuss things.
And this week the two discussed the whole drama surrounding the relationship.
While some believe that Hailey was a factor to the breakup between Selena and Justin and some don’t – the truth is only the three of them know what happened. Hailey was asked if she ever hooked up with Justin while he was in a relationship with Selena.
“No, not one time,” she stated. “When him and I ever started, like, hooking up or like anything of that sort, he was not ever in a relationship — ever, at any point. … It’s not my character to mess with someone’s relationship, I would just never do that. I was raised better than that. I’m not interested in doing that.”
She continued, “I think that there are situations where you can still kind of have, like, back and forth with someone, but even that was not the situation. I can say, period, point blank: I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody. That’s the end of it. And I had been involved with him since I was 18.”
While there has been a lot of back and forth in the media the Hailey talked about the door between Justin and Selena being closed and the way that the timeline looks from the outside.
“I understand, again, how it looks from the outside and there’s a lot of perception there, but that was a situation where I know for a fact that it was the right thing for them to close that door,” she said. “They were not in a relationship at that time, but of course there’s a very long history there and it’s not my relationship. It has nothing to do with me, so I respect that a lot but I know that it closed a chapter and I think it was the best thing that could’ve happened for him to move on and be engaged and get married. Like, move on with his life in that way.”
I have a lot of respect for Hailey that she also said in the interview that she doesn’t want to speak on Justin and Selena‘s behalf, as it’s not her relationship. That’s completely true.
It’s not hers and though we can all have opinions, the only people that can truly speak on what happened in their relationship is Justin and Selena.
Though Hailey will never be able to change the narrative – no one will – there is respect from this site that she talked about the whole thing in a respectful way. Whatever happened between Justin and Selena, all we can say is we wish everyone involved the best and happiness.
Life is too short for anything else.
