One of the reasons that we’re obsessed with Emily In Paris is Emily’s endless optimism, but also her want to make everyone happy. She’s a lot sometimes (we know) but she does have a giving heart, even when she’s being selfish. She’s a lot of different things, but we all are. It’s just the part of a person that we choose to focus on that makes them a certain way to us.
At least that’s our view.
And this episode, Emily is again a lot. But then again, so is everyone else. People need to stop keeping secrets and also, they need to stop being jealous fools. It seems like everyone on this show experiences jealousy and doesn’t ever want to talk about it. Instead they’d like for it to fester and take over.
Emily is back at work, arriving to a photo shoot that she’s not involved in. Emily loves a good photo opportunity and doesn’t know why she was invited. Sylvie tells her that she’s basically not involved cause she hasn’t gotten her visa yet and she needs to get that first.
Emily wants to impress Sylvie, to have her approval. Emily consistently wants approval from everyone, but there is a point where she has to accept that she won’t get approval from everyone. That’s like and it’s a fickle moody bitch.

We find out that Mindy has known Nicolas, they went to boarding school together in Switzerland together. She acts like he was this good guy, but this writer still thinks he’s a shady bitch and doesn’t like him, so there is that. Emily wants to make the best of it all though and invites him to a party that Aflie is throwing.
We know what it’s like to want to be friends with your besties significant other, but I also know that bestics can tell when people are shit heads, and I do believe that Emily knows that he’s a shit head.
At work, Emily had shocked Sylvie by telling her that Janine DuBois from La Liste followed her on Instagram. The look on Sylvie’s face was enough shock to make us laugh a little. Look, there is so much love for Sylvie, but we think that everyone has to come to realize that Emily can pull contacts from nowhere.
Emily is a force and though we’d like to say that these things don’t really happen in life, we really don’t feel like anyone can say that something “never” happens, because it does. And one of the things that we won’t get mad about happening is that Camille shows her true colors.
It’s Alfie’s party and there is a lot going on. Unfortunately, Nicolas is there and he’s still really gets under my skin. He’s such an asshole and I do think that is an appropriate thing to call him. I don’t think that Mindy sees that, because she’s known him forever.
And I think sometimes you are blinded by the things you knew versus the people that they grew into. Benoit is jealous of the two – Mindy and Nicolas – and doesn’t show it in the best way. BUT – I have to admit, was rooting for his public display of affection.
Cami’s artist friend, Sofia, shows up and the two go onto the roof. They end up making out and though I don’t really like Cami, I honestly think she really likes her. But my issue is cheating and when Emily is the one who sees them, all I can think is that she’s gonna turn this shit on Emily one day.
Because that’s Cami’s usual thing. She takes no responsibility for anything.

Things are about to go from bad to worse, because Nicolas has invited Emily and Mindy to a party the next day and we all know how well that’s gonna go over with Benoit. Yes, Nicolas and Mindy are friends, but he wants in them jeans.
Lord, I sound like my Mom with that statement.
But time with Emily is what Mindy needs. Emily also needs to learn to turn off work talk, but it’s something that I also struggle with, so I am not going to hate on her for that. I am going to take Mindys side. But what does annoy me is that Mindy’s okay talking work when it does benefit her. Then I am quickly reminded that she’s most likely doing that for Benoit.
And so you can’t hate on that as much. Nicolas agrees, but Benoit does not. He shoots Mindy down, but I think that he does that in part, because he’s jealous and in part because he doesn’t want to loose out to Nicolas on anything.
It’s my opinion that Benoit feels that just that is happening. He feels like this dude has come along and he’s put a wall between him and Mindy, and how can he compete with that. I just wonder if Benoit realizes Mindy doesn’t want anyone competing, she loves him. I feel for him because I think this will be something that changes their relationship.
Nicolas is quite okay when Benoit shoots it down. I think that he wanted to do is for Mindy, but can’t stand Benoit. What person really likes anyone that stands in their way? What I was surprised about was that Nicolas was the one that told her that she made La Liste (and she is on the cover).
Sylvie doesn’t really like the fact that Emily’s on it. Luc and Julien seem less surprised. Sylvie snaps at Emily over it eventually, and Emily smooth’s things over with Sylvie by telling her about the marketing proposal with JVMA. This does make Sylvie happy, even telling Emily good work.
I didn’t know that Sylvie knew how to compliment anyone.

Emily’s friends celebrate her being on the list that night. Mindy can’t be with them, because she has a performance. Everyone is okay with that, because Mindy is chasing her dreams and they want to support that.
Little did they know that performance would be one that was just amazing. Benoit and Mindy are performing Shallow, and girl takes over, putting him in his place with her voice. NGL, literal goosebumps.
There is a lot of shit happening and well… we are here for the drama. Bring it, Emily in Paris.
