After a week, Leverage: Redemption 2×09 “The Pyramid Job” fully introduces Sophie’s past and the consequences that this can bring not only for her but for the entire team. Ready?
Here we go!
The Past Knocks on the Door in Leverage: Redemption 2×09 “The Pyramid Job”

In Leverage: Redemption 2×09 “The Pyramid Job” Sophie faces the most complicated case for her. Sophie and Eliot’s past has been knocking on their doors throughout this season and in this episode, the conflict with Sophie’s past deepened.
In the case of this week, Sophie found the right fit for her because this job made her emotionally bare in a way she’s not used to. They say that the best lie contains some truth and Sophie always puts some truth in every one of her cons but, at the same time, she finds herself protected behind her own emotional barriers.
However, in Leverage: Redemption 2×09 “The Pyramid Job” all changed. Confronted with another professional lie and deceiver, Sophie had to show her vulnerability. It made her say things that she only recognized to herself. It’s a bit dizzy to see Sophie so vulnerable, we just wanted to hug her but, at the same time, we liked going deeper into her feelings.
As we have commented on several occasions, for Sophie the team is her family and she took Nate’s place as the team leader and the person in charge of taking care of them. And Sophie takes her mission very seriously. It’s kind of hard for her because she feels like she can never measure up to Nate. He always seemed to have the right words, the perfect plan…but Sophie has to try. Sophie will not leave her family behind.
Shocking Revelations

The revelations do not end there. Leverage: Redemption 2×09 “The Pyramid Job” surprised us with a piece of Sophie’s past. Years ago, Sophie abandoned someone who trusted her, who considered her family, and who would never betray her. Years ago, Sophie abandoned… her daughter? Or, at least, to someone she was like one. WTF?! This has left us with the wig on Mars. We need to know more! We need to know the whole story! Like NOW.
After recovering – a bit – from the shock, we can understand that a part of Sophie is so serious about keeping the team safe because she feels guilty for having had to abandon someone who was her family. Sophie fights every day so that history doesn’t repeat itself. We are sure of one thing: if Sophie did it, it’s because she had no other choice. What Arthur told is not the whole story, not even close. We don’t trust him at all.
Instinct Is Not Wrong in Leverage: Redemption 2×09 “The Pyramid Job”

Another person who seems to share our low opinion of Arthur in Leverage: Redemption 2×09 “The Pyramid Job” is Eliot. From the moment he saw him, he knew that he was going to cause trouble and that if Sophie was agreeing to help him it was because she felt she owed him. But Eliot is not willing to leave it at that.
This is potentially dangerous for both Sophie and the entire team, so Eliot plans to protect them and find out why Arthur can manipulate Sophie so easily. And what he discovers leaves him cold. Arthur tells him about a very different Sophie from the one he knows.
I mean, everyone in the past worked alone but once they learned to trust each other, betrayal was never a possibility for either of them. None of them would be able to betray the others. It’s clear that Arthur wanted to make Eliot doubt Sophie and confront them… but luckily, he didn’t get it right.
Eliot and Sophie show a united front in Leverage: Redemption 2×09 “The Pyramid Job” and unmask Arthur. However, this only raises more questions for us because Arthur works for someone much more powerful, also from Sophie’s past. And, if that person is making a name for himself/herself now it can only mean that he or she is determined to start a war against Sophie and, by extension, the team.
This makes us nervous but we can’t wait!
