After a week and a new year, we are here again! Leverage: Redemption 2×10 “The Work-Study Job” confronts Breanna with new possibilities about her future, as she tries to heal the wounds from her past. Ready?
Here we go!
In Leverage: Redemption 2×10 “The Work-Study Job” the job of the week takes Breanna more closely than any other job. She always felt the University was a waste of time since she was always self-taught. So Breanna always saw it unnecessary to pay an indecent amount of money to be taught what she already knew.
But on top of that, she never felt comfortable around people, and college somehow forced her to socialize. Breanna’s not good with it. She’s a lonely woman because no one other than Hardison and her team took the time and interest to get to know her before turning her down.

This made Breanna have a hard time trusting people and she prefers to keep them at a safe distance, enough so that she cannot feel their rejection. However, in Leverage: Redemption 2×10 “The Work-Study Job” Breanna connected with her client because she saw herself reflected in her. Both are intelligent and have a hard time socializing, which makes them feel vulnerable.
Breanna found a way to deal with that vulnerability by pushing everyone away. But meeting the team gave her enough confidence to know that self-imposed loneliness doesn’t have to be the answer.
There are horrible people in the world who are capable of stealing your job without remorse, but there are also wonderful people who are capable of appreciating you for who you are.
Breanna found these people when she met the team. Meeting them and joining them, doing what they do… made Breanna realize that she was always much stronger than she realized. Breanna is aware now, after finding her place in the world, of her strength, so she can convey that calm and confidence to the client, helping her find her own voice.

Sophie realizes the connection that is born between Breanna and the client in Leverage: Redemption 2×10 “The Work-Study Job” and how the case affected Breanna especially. And she wants Breanna to know that she can choose what to do. The team will always be there, even if she decides to take another path. Breanna won’t lose them, but she has the right to choose.
All team members made their decisions for a long time, explored the possibilities… and decided to join the team. Breanna also has the right to explore the possibilities that come her way, and Sophie wants her to know that, so she doesn’t feel obligated to stay on the team if she feels she wants or needs to do something else.
That’s why I love that Breanna decides to start some classes. Leverage: Redemption 2×10 “The Work-Study Job” taught her that college can be a path worth exploring. Furthermore, this decision is proof that she feels safe enough with the team to know that, even if she decides to choose another path, they will always be there. Call it character growth.
