We watch a lot of TV, in case all the reviews, interviews, news, and features didn’t give you a clue (wink, wink), so we decided to come together once a week to highlight all those great moments that our favorite shows give us throughout the week. In Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
Badass Character of the Week
Raquel: I’m with Miah on this: Kim Burgess! And not just because she kicked ass like nobody else and saved a little boy from drowning in the latest episode of Chicago P.D., but because you have to be badass to accept that you need help. Kim accepted that she feels trapped in her trauma but, beyond that, she realized that she doesn’t want to be anymore. She wants to move forward and she has the ovaries to take that step and find someone to help her. She is a badass since always!
Miah: I’m going with Kim Burgess from Chicago P.D. As someone who suffers from panic attacks, being able to function and focus takes strength. Doing that in a life or death situation? Now that’s a new level of courage and power. Kim Burgess did that twice in this episode: once on the train and the other in the well. She saved that little boy and she was determined to push through and do her job. Also, we got to see her ask for help and start to put in the work in that final scene. This episode truly showed us how remarkable and resilient Kim Burgess is.
Shana: I don’t have anything particularly important to add to the excellent commentary above, but I’m agreeing with everyone on Burgess all the same.
OTP of the Week
Raquel: I’m going to cheat here because I have two OTPs this week: Chenford and Burzek. In the last episode of The Rookie, I melted when Tim gives that beautiful necklace to Lucy as Valentine’s gift. They’re married to me. I said what I said.
And in Chicago P.D., even though the episode isn’t about Burzek, it’s clear that they plan to bet on this ship. Kim and Adam want the same thing. But she needs to heal to be at that point…and Adam is going to be right next to her, waiting for her.
Rachel: Well, I don’t know if they technically qualify as an OTP yet, but Charlie and Emma on The Company You Keep feel like they could become one eventually. We have only seen the pilot of this series so far, but the elements are all in place for a potential super couple in the future. The writing executed their meeting and first interactions very well and the chemistry between Milo Ventimiglia and Catherine Haena Kim is remarkable. I’m definitely going to pay attention to how this ship shapes up.
Jasmine: I’m going with my Sprina babies from General Hospital. After almost two years of waiting, I finally got to witness my ship have their very first kiss. And boy was it a kiss!!! Anyone who has been paying attention knows i’m very loyal to this ship (See I will go down with this ship Sprina edition). Spencer and Trina have been through a lot of ups and downs but getting to witness their kiss after all this time was so worth the wait. I’m still not over it and don’t know if I’ll ever recover.
Miah: I’m gonna go with Chenford from this week’s The Rookie. Like the angst, the banter and the eventual makeup was *chefs kiss.* Also, the way Tim had zero hesitation in backing her up when she rescued that UC guy, like damn. They may not always agree with each other, but in the end they are so supportive and so in tune with each other, it makes for a beautiful story.
Liv: I’m going with Kai and Sanam from Love Island. Everything associated with Love Island is pretty insufferable at the moment but they are great and I hope they win.
Shana: I don’t even know if I’d necessarily call them an OTP at this point for me, personally? But Blake and Everett’s scene in this week’s Wolf Pack was utterly adorable. And, to overuse the word some more, it was also very sweet.
Moment that made you collapse into a puddle of FEELS
Raquel: It wasn’t easy for me to see Kim so badly in Chicago P.D., but to see Adam there for her, looking into her eyes, that he is her anchor and the only one who could bring her back to the present… that was it for me. Just like watching Lucy make it clear to Tim in The Rookie that she was going to do whatever she had to do to make him happy whether he wanted to or not.
Jasmine: All of the moments leading up to Trina and Spencer’s first kiss. The fact that the writers took Sprina back to Avas art gallery where they first met was so Romantic. It was a full-circle moment for them. Those moments where Spencer talked about some of the things from their time together, had my heart bursting. Then when she told him she didn’t know who she was anymore after learning Taggert may not be her biological father, he told her he knew exactly who she was. Trina has always been the one providing support for Spencer so it was nice to see him do it for her. It was beautifully done.
Liv: Gregory and Janine’s first kiss in Abbott Elementary, need I say anymore. That lanyard pull will go down in history for one of the best TV kisses ever.
Shana: Definitely that scene in Law & Order: SVU where Pence and Winnie found out about his diagnosis. I went into a ton of detail in the review, so, I’ll go with the short version of why it’s so important here. Basically, it’s a scene that’s so full of emotion, it winds up elevating all the feels in every other heartbreaking moment in the episode. Quite an accomplishment, but considering who the actors and director were…not a surprising one.
Quote of the Week
Raquel: “I can’t be trapped” Kim Burgess, Chicago P.D.
Jasmine: “Whoever’s child you are Trina Robinson, you’re the sweetest, smartest, and bravest person who I know.” Spencer Cassadine, General Hospital.
Miah: “Did I say we? I meant me. Me was trying to help. I was trying to help” Lucy Chen, The Rookie.
Shana: “This disease is like the teeth of God, biting into a liqueur chocolate and sucking all the memories out of your head like a maraschino cherry. And there is no cure.” Pence Humphreys, SVU.
WTF Moment of the Week
Raquel: Nolan being a jerk to Bailey in The Rookie. It was pretty horrifying to see how he “saved” her and he still didn’t realize what he had done wrong.
Shana: Did not expect to see Ramsey talking about the werewolf, then immediately attacking that guard, at the end of Wolf Pack. RIP to him, though.
