There are some writers that stick with you, that grab ahold of your heart, and you know that you’re going to read everything that they write and see everything that they make. Rebecca Serle is one of those authors.
At least for us.
If you haven’t read One Italian Summer, it’s a book that you should pick up. The book is one that you will love, that will haunt you in the best ways, and will make you want to go in search of love and yourself.
And you know best of all it will make you want to take a trip to Italy.
Paramount has optioned One Italian Summer for film. There was a competitive auction for the property. We can totally understand why people were fighting for the property, as the book is AMAZING. Then again, most things written by are.
The book is a story of Katy, who after her Mother’s death, embarks upon a trip that her and her Mom had planned to Positano, Italy. It’s where Carol (Katy’s Mom) had spent the summer prior to meeting Katy’s Dad. But, ” as soon as she steps foot on the Amalfi Coast, Katy begins to feel her mother’s spirit. Buoyed by the stunning waters, beautiful cliffsides, delightful residents, and, of course, delectable food, Katy feels herself coming back to life.”
The description continues, “And then Carol appears—in the flesh, healthy, sun-tanned, and thirty years old. Katy doesn’t understand what is happening, or how—all she can focus on is that she has somehow, impossibly, gotten her mother back. Over the course of one Italian summer, Katy gets to know Carol, not as her mother, but as the young woman before her. She is not exactly who Katy imagined she might be, however, and soon Katy must reconcile the mother who knew everything with the young woman who does not yet have a clue.”
Temple Hill will produce a feature adaptation of the book. Rebecca Serle is executive producing with David Stone of TFC Productions.
We’re so thrilled for Rebecca, who is a gifted AF author that we love and will always support. We can’t wait for this film to come to life.
