There is one thing about the McMurray’s, they are resilient. Even with all of the secrets that they keep, with the trouble that they have, they are resilient. Yes, every single one of them, isn’t seeing the big picture and some are naive. But that’s the thing about family – if everyone was the same, life would be boring.
And well, the McMurray’s are anything but.
Ride is a captivating tale and we’re only on episode three. But you’re left wondering, what could happen next? A lot. Definitely a lot.
THE CASH OF IT ALL
Cash isn’t like Austin. I am wondering if that is a good or a bad thing, because everything that we’ve learned about Austin, he hasn’t been the best guy. Cash feels like everyone wants him to be Austin but what drives me crazy about that is that he doesn’t allow himself to just be himself.
There is plenty of work to be done, but Cash is all about training. He knows that is where he is best serving the family. However, what he doesn’t get is that even though what he wants to do is ride bulls, he’s got to play politics also. He has to attend the Bull Riders League ball.
That means that Cash has to be on his best behavior. He needs to clean up, shape up, and make his Mama proud.

For Cash, I believe that he’s so optimistic about life is that he wasn’t around the last few years. He doesn’t see the seriousness of doing everything that he can in and outside the ring. He has nothing but love for his family and that is admirable. What Cash doesn’t get is that sometimes love means that you have to listen to others and you have to be open to change.
TRICK RIDES AND BULL BUMPS
Missy gets a call from Frontier Jeans that they want to be at the ranch to take video of her doing the suicide ride that she had talked about on the radio show. The issue? She hasn’t done one since the day that Austin died.
The trick is very dangerous and one that she can’t even think of doing. All she’s thinking of is Austin, that day, and how she’s still grieving. She knows that she needs to do the ride, but she can’t bring herself to do it.
When talking to Cash, he wants to help her. He’s trying to help her through it, but even then, she can’t do it. She’s trying, but her mind isn’t there.
Doing this ride is in part mental, so even when the crew is there, she can’t do it. She’s not in that space and she has to tell the marketing executive that she won’t do it and that she’s not about to risk her life for the ride.
I think that one of the best parts of this episode is that at the end Missy does the ride and she does it on her own terms and for herself. It’s nice to see the strength that she exhibits and the way that she’s not willing to lose herself.
Missy is strong and yes, her journey is just beginning. However it ends up, I can’t wait to watch.
CO-RANCH FOREMANS
There is a lot going on around the ranch, but Val and Tuff working together is a very hard thing. Mainly because they don’t trust each other at all. They have different ideas for how the ranch should be, but neither one of them wants to be believe in the other.
I can’t blame people for being mistrustful of Val, she’s hiding a lot and the one thing that I can pretty much say is that I wouldn’t trust her either. So Tuff and the guys not wanting to listen to her, it is understandable. The most important thing though is that Tuff and Val find a way to work together.

Val is definitely hiding things, but what it is, I don’t have a clue of. I do believe that she’s got her reasons, but I also know that reasons aren’t sometimes good enough. She needs to trust people and I do also think that is the one thing that she’s not capable of.
Val doesn’t have the ranch hands respect and so she takes on a big project on her own, rather than really putting her foot down and saying, no… I am in charge too. It’s not out of line for her to tell them that they need to do the job too.
Tuff isn’t helping it at all, but there is a part of me that can’t hate on Tuff, because he just wants to keep his family safe. However, I do think also that he was hurt by Val leaving. Though we don’t have backstory on the two of them, there is a part of me that thinks that Tuff was hurt by Val (on a personal level).
Cash gives Val the best advice – that she doesn’t need to fight for a job that she already has.
CLEANING OUT THE BARN
When a pipe breaks at where the BRL gala is supposed to be, the McMurray farm is offered up as a place to hold the event.
For Isabelle the hardest part is that her old friend is the head of the gala. A friend that abandoned her when she needed her the most. So Isabelle is determined that the barn and the event will be perfect.
There is a part of me that is like why? Why are we supposed to worry so much about what this friend thinks. This friend isn’t anyone that I would even deal with because she deserted her. When someone isn’t with you in the worst of times; when they desert you, they don’t deserve your love or your worry.
The event looks beautiful and Isabelle and all the McMurray’s are all having a great time. At least it seems that way. Cash is giving the best advice to Missy when he accidentally bumps a waiter who drops things.
Some jackass says that the McMurrays are cursed.
Now, I will be the first to say that I have thought the same thing. I have thought that the McMurrays are cursed, because they have so many bad things that seem to happen to them. But Cash – well he makes th best point.
They aren’t cursed. They are lucky. They are lucky, because no matter what happens to them they pull through – together.
While people expect Isabelle to say something, she doesn’t. She tells them that Cash said it all.
I do believe that the McMurray’s can get through everything and anything. I have the utmost faith in them. Do I think the journey will be easy? No.
But they’ll get there.

OTHER THOUGHTS
- I don’t like the way that Val and Cash are getting close. Do I like the set up of a love triangle? Yes. But man, I love him with Missy & yes, I know she was married to his brother.
- Isabelle McMurray is a goddess and we should all appreciate her.
- Man that barn was messy.
- Love the exchanges between Cash and Tuff. Brothers are the best.
- That bull is scary as fuck. I don’t know how people could have the courage to ride a bull.
- Val burying Missy’s boots made me laugh, but also made me think that she’s a good friend.
- Cash dancing made me LOL
- Val worked so hard in the field, but she has got to prove herself in her brain, so I admire that shit.
- Tuff finding Val’s ID cards? Did not see that one coming. But why does Val have so many? I need to know.
