The thing about having a best friend who is like a sister is that you are willing to stand up for them when you need to. You will be quiet when you need to. You will support them. You will be there for them. And hey, when things are put out into the universe that are wrong, you will correct them.
Especially when what is said, is hurtful.
Sophia Bush is one person that can and will stand up for herself, but one thing that we admire about her is that she always uses her platform in a way that ignores the gossip of Hollywood. We couldn’t stand the bullshit that is being said if it was said about us.
Especially when it insinuates something about our character.
So, Erin Foster recently brought up, on her podcast, that Chad Michael Murray, cheated on her in “a pretty egregious way.” She went on and insinuated that the two were living together at the time. And the kicker, that person she said that Chad cheated with was Sophia Bush.
Now, did Erin have a right to bring up her past? Yes. Everyone does. But we’ll go back to the old truth that there are three sides to every story – yours, mine, and the truth.
And Erin’s truth may not be the whole truth. And so was making Bush sound like she was okay with being a cheater a good thing? No. Erin should have been more careful with wording her version of the truth.
Now, where as Sophia may not have spoken up, her BFF, Hilarie Burton did. She took to her Instagram story and spoke up about the situation. Sophia isn’t afraid of taking heat, but there are times where a friend is going to take to standing up and telling the truth.
We can’t disagree with Hilarie speaking up, because we’d do the same thing.
“Ooof. Cringe. I got off my red eye flight home and multiple people had sent me this headline. As the person who had a front row seat then? This wasn’t it,” Hilarie wrote on her Instagram story, “We were all told you’d broken up which is why our guy was perusing [SIC] her.”
“Now this is being spun to make my sister look like a brazen harlot. And if she’s anyone’s harlot, it’s mine,” Hilarie continued. She went on to tell Erin that she was happy to discuss, because Erin also deserves the truth. We admire that Hilarie wasn’t about to just be like whatever to Erin, but wanted to discuss.
Hilarie added, “There are so many unnamed sources making claims about the woman I love, so fuck it. I’ll be a named source. Lotta internet voices being nasty, and as the person who knows the real timeline? It would be laughable if it wasn’t so hurtful.”
We love that Hilarie stood up for Sophia and was willing to be a named source, but more than that, we’re in awe of the friendship. The way the women of One Tree Hill stand up for each other is admirable.
It’s the type of friendships we want to have in our lives.
