We’re back! The Rookie 6×08 “Punch Card” is a transitional episode without much to highlight that Chenford manages to make memorable and keep your glue on the screen. Ready?
Here we go!
Love as a Badge for Chenford in The Rookie 6×08 “Punch Card”
The final Chenford scene has been the most interesting thing about The Rookie 6×08 “Punch Card.” Tim knows that, in theory, he no longer has the right to give Lucy anything, but at the same time, he can’t stand by and do nothing.
Tim just wanted to let her know that, despite everything that was going on, even though he felt like he had to get away from her, he still loved her, she’s still in his mind, in his heart, and he just wants to let her know that if she allows him, he will return to her when he is ready. It’s like Tim is begging her to wait for him because what they have, the love they share, is one of a kind.
And that final Chenford scene in The Rookie 6×08 “Punch Card” melted us. It’s so cute and so sad at the same time. You can really feel everything, the longing, the pain, the love…the way both wish everything was different. Tim just wants to be by Lucy’s side and she can’t help but cry because they aren’t together.
Despite the suffering of the two and how it makes our skin crawl, it’s love that marks this scene (it’s love that makes Tim and Kojo give Lucy a gift and it’s love that makes her cry when reads the card) and that is what kills us.
Ineffective Surprises
Blair’s turn is the least surprising thing ever. We all knew she was hiding something and didn’t have good intentions, so it was only a matter of time before she revealed her true colors, and The Rookie 6×08 “Punch Card” was that moment.
The truth is that we hope that Tim’s decision to take therapy wasn’t just a means that led to discovering Blair, but that it’s something that has continuity for Tim’s character because he really needs to solve some problems that are preventing him from being happy. We would hate it if, because Blair is playing a double game, Tim took a step back from his therapy.
We’re afraid that they will send Tim’s emotional progress to the trash and that they have simply used the character to “surprise” with Blair’s double game. We said what we said.
Other Stuff in The Rookie 6×08 “Punch Card”
- How Lucy crushed that woman against the wall, wow!
- Even though we didn’t like the plot of Bailan’s kid, we’re sad about how this ended up turning out. But we understand Bailey’s decision not to move forward, to have and be able to lose hope every week, every month… it’s a lifelessness that can end her entire life in pieces. We only hope that they can adopt and thus fulfill the dream of being parents and giving a family to a little one who needs one.
- We don’t quite like the whole strange plot of Monica, Blair, and their plan against Metro. Especially since we never quite understand where Monica’s shady behavior comes from, so we reserve our judgment on this until we watch the next two episodes.
- We hate that everyone blames Tim for his mistakes and he sinks deeper into his guilt. Tim already knows that he made mistakes, he doesn’t need to be reminded of it every moment… and even less so when the point is not to agree with a plan that is too risky.
- Thank goodness Lucy didn’t see that kind of flirting scene between Tim and Blair. That moment was completely unnecessary.
- Kojo is the best of the episode!
- Lucy as a TO is awesome!
