We watch a lot of TV and movies! And we listen to a lot of music, podcasts, audiobooks…so yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
What You’re Fangirling Over This Week

Raquel: This week I couldn’t stop thinking that Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 premieres next week, so that’s my pick up #sorrynotsorry.
Amanda P.: June is off to a fantastic start book-wise for me! I went to a wonderful launch event for Isabel and the Rogue by Liana De la Rosa. I can’t recommend it enough if you’re loving Bridgerton Season 3 – or just love historical romance. There’s a wallflower and a roguish agent, spy shenanigans, a hot air balloon ride gone wrong, and one very steamy scene involving a desk.
Rachel: This week, I got to go back to the Star Wars universe with The Acolyte! There were a lot of things I enjoyed about the first two episodes, and I loved seeing an unexplored era in the history of this amazing fictional galaxy. I can’t wait to watch more. I am also excited by the announcement that we’re getting a new Hunger Games book about the Games that Haymitch won!
Brittany: My jaw dropped over the news that Adam Levine is returning to The Voice in 2025. I had the honor and pleasure of getting to know him when he was a coach for the first 16 seasons, and it was one of my favorite experiences in my entire life. I can’t tell you how much I learned from Adam and his artists, and how much fun we had. I was also so sure he was done with the show. So I’m surprised and excited and also blasting Maroon 5 songs all week. #TeamAdam forever.
Lyra: Buddie fanfiction writers. That’s who I’m fangirling over. Because I’ve only dipped my toe into the 9-1-1 fandom and you’ve got some talented writers here wadding through the complexities of found family, Catholic guilt, depression, love, fear, hope, and realizing that the home you’ve been looking for has been right in front of you the whole time.
WTF Moment of the Week

Raquel: That the initial reviews of House of the Dragon season 2 are so mixed. I think that, just as I feared, continuing to film despite the Writers’ Strike was a mistake. You need a writer on set for whatever might happen.
Rachel: When that one death happened in the opening scene of the first episode of The Acolyte, I kind of gasped.
Ashley W.: Clipped, a series based on former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and his racist remarks that got him banned from the NBA, premiered on Hulu recently. The primary thing I’ve seen discussed online regarding the show is the questionable casting choices, and I get it. Because the actors portraying these players don’t look much like them. For me, Blake Griffin’s actor has me the most confused thus far.
This is nothing against any of the actors themselves, of course. But Max’s Winning Time series that focused on the rise of the Los Angeles Lakers dynasty did well with casting actors/making actors believably resemble the basketball players (and other personnel) they portrayed. So it’s strange to see that isn’t the case with Clipped.
Also, why wasn’t James Lafferty cast to play JJ Redick? Lafferty is best known for playing Nathan Scott on One Tree Hill, where he was a basketball player who competed at the high school, college, and NBA levels. He reminds me more of JJ Redick during his Duke days as opposed to his NBA days, but I still think it would’ve been a great choice.
Brittany: I waited almost a literal year for Jonathan Groff’s guest appearance on Doctor Who. Two of my favorite things coming together: Jonathan Groff and Doctor Who. You can imagine how crestfallen I was when it turned out to be my least favorite episode of the season, even though I appreciated his performance. I’m going to look ahead to the hope that Jonathan will finally win a Tony Award next week, and just remember how awesome he was in Merrily We Roll Along.
Lyra: Perfect Match on Netflix is back and it’s literally so unhinged. For the men mostly if I’m being honest. Harry is a mess who has not changed his ways. Bryton is ignorant and dismissive. And Dom needs to buck up and actually make a decision instead of just waiting for things to happen. But the biggest fool is…me. Why am I still watching this trash? Probably the same reason I watched all seasons of Too Hot to Handle. I don’t have to turn on my brain for a second of it.
What We’re Listening to This Week

Raquel: After seeing the Sister Act 2 cast reunited after so many years, I couldn’t help but start listening to the soundtrack on a loop. One of my favorite movies.
Ashley W.: There is now a professional recording of Eva Noblezada and Jeremy Jordan singing “My Green Light” from The Great Gatsby Broadway musical on Spotify, so I will be listening to it on repeat until I get to hear it live later this month (and probably after that, too).
Amanda W.: The streak of A+ Sabrina Carpenter music videos continues with her latest single, “Please Please Please,” which reminds me a lot of some of her older songs and albums. It’s joining my on my repeat playlist!
Brittany: See above. My entire Maroon 5 playlist. Which is like 130+ songs on Apple Music, and surprisingly, I still know almost all the words. Makes me miss when I used to go to all of their concert tours and lose my voice.
Lyra: The soundtrack for Fallout has been on a loop for me this past week. It’s just so different from everything and anything that is on now and it feels fresh even though the tracks are old.
What We Rewatched This Week

Amanda P.: Crazy Rich Asians is on Netflix now! The summer of 2018 was such a great rom-com renaissance, and you can see a direct link between the theatrical, luxe take on this movie and Jon M. Chu becoming the go-to guy for big Hollywood musicals. Still super bummed the sequel(s) never happened – a great reminder of the importance of pay equity for creatives!
Rachel: I’ve been feeling like I need fun movie watches for the most part lately so I rewatched 1991’s The Rocketeer. This film was so well-designed and is such a good fun overall that it deserves more attention. I love that it’s a period piece with a pulp hero and not a superhero as it’s main character. Just good adventure entertainment.
Ashley W.: The amount of times that I’ve said “Oh no” in varying tones while getting through season three of One Tree Hill during my rewatch is ridiculous. But it’s a testament to just how much craziness happens in that season and also a reminder of how well I know the show even though I haven’t watched any of it in several years.
Amanda W.: I’m one of those people who doesn’t always have Netflix, so I watched my favorite movie and comfort movie, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before while I can. The rest of the trilogy will soon follow!
Badass Character of the Week

Amanda P.: I don’t think I can choose between the characters of The Acolyte! I appreciate how each of the characters we’ve met so far are badasses in different ways, with different physicalities that hint at who they really are. Mae, Osha, Sol, Yord — I love them already, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Rachel: I have to agree with Amanda and go with Osha of The Acolyte. She has bravery, smarts, and compassion for others. And she has so much more of time to grow too!
Amanda W.: This isn’t a fictional character, but I have to go with reigning Olympic all-around champion Suni Lee for this one after she successfully competed all-around in an elite competition for the first time since Tokyo — and for the first time since her kidney disease diagnoses.
Suni could’ve easily let falling on her day two vault ruin her 2024 championships, but she didn’t. Additional kudos to GOAT Simone Biles for helping Suni mentally and emotionally after her fall on vault. We love two supportive queens!
Brittany: Six-time IndyCar series champion and Indianapolis 500 winner Scott Dixon. And yes, I have to say that whole thing when I talk about him. Dixon won at Detroit in an otherwise total crashfest of a race by just doing Scott Dixon things: putting his head down, driving cleanly and saving an insane level of fuel. This man’s ability to get the most out of his car and his consistency as an athlete are awe-inspiring to me when I could barely get out of bed this week.
