Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2” shows us just how serious a threat the Loom is. We’ve got action and excitement, and a good bit of horror. It’s a harrowing episode, so let’s dive straight into my thoughts on Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2.”

For the Kids
Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2” shows us just how intense Star Trek: Prodigy can get. First, we have some straight-up horror with The Loom. Not only do they take you out, they erase your very existence from time itself. I can guarantee you that The Loom would have creeped me out quite a bit as a kid. Who isn’t creeped out by the idea of a monster chasing you, especially since it can erase you from existence?! The stakes are effective and appropriate for the kids in the audience, especially when you see crew members get taken and our heroes narrowly escape.
On a lighter note, there is this bit of light romance between Zero and Maj’el, which is heightened all the more now that Zero has a humanoid body in Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2.” I’ve been a shipper since I was a kid, so this is a fun aspect for all the shipper kids in the audience. Zero catching Maj’el, the little handhold, and their telepathic connection are all very sweet and innocent. Perfect for some age-appropriate shipping.

For the Adults
There are tons of great moments for longtime Trek fans in Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2.” We get to see Janeway at her most badass since Star Trek: Voyager’s series finale, “Endgame.” When she shouts, “Stay away from my crew!” I got chills! She really ups the ante against The Loom, figuring out a way to do some damage. Also, we get the return of what certain segments of the fandom call, “The Janeway Gun Show!” Most of all, this shows us Janeway’s character. She will do anything to protect her crew, which is why she is the best Captain.
Our senior staff gets some time to shine as well. The Doctor saying, “Take 20 milligrams of vengeance, you otherworldly tyrant!” is amazing. We also get to see Tysess in action, which is phenomenal. He’s a great officer and it’s great to see him shine in this episode.
Finally, Wesley is a total badass in Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2.” Sure, we know the Travelers are a powerful force, but watching Wesley effectively Kamehameha bomb The Loom and the entire planet off subspace scans is truly incredible. This is the glow-up that Wesley Crusher truly deserves and I’m so glad that Wil Wheaton gets to bring that to life in Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2.” Also, the passing mention of Boreth Crystals ties Star Trek: Prodigy to Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It’s a small thing, but that connective tissue really helps to solidify Star Trek: Prodigy firmly in the Star Trek canon.

Final Thoughts
Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2” is a great wrap to the first half of Star Trek: Prodigy season 2. We finally get our crew where they need to be and we get to see everyone at their best. It’s a great way to close out this first half of the season.
Star Trek: Prodigy 2×10 “The Devourer of All Things, Part 2” also gives us some good life advice for both the kids and adults in the room. Maj’el says, “Together we become greater than the sum of both of us. Let my strength become yours.” One person can do a lot on their own but with friends and community around us, we can do so much more. What a valuable lesson to learn as a kid, and to remember as an adult.
Finally, we found the Protostar! We found Chakotay! But the Protostar is looking pretty rough, and Chakotay, while looking really great with that beard, looks like he’s seen some things. I’m eager to talk about the rest of the season here with you on Fangirlish, but you’ll have to wait until my next review to get my full thoughts on this. As Wesley says, “Nobody likes spoilers.”
