One Chicago is set to return on September 25 and NBC has released a trailer for all three Chicago shows — Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. — which will premiere one after the other because, of course, they will. Is there a common thread in the trailer? Well, change. These shows might be getting a little long in the tooth, but that doesn’t mean things can stay the same.
There are new faces in Chicago Med, and one of those news faces is questioning Dr. Archer — as she should, really. If he’s gonna ask how old I am, I’ll ask how old he is! Over on Chicago Fire, there’s a new Chief, and Severide might not want the job, but that doesn’t mean he’s convinced about Dom Pascal. And in Chicago P.D., Voight swears he’s fine, but we don’t think he’s convincing anyone. He did, after all, almost die in the Season 11 finale. Will that change Voight? We doubt it, but hey, wouldn’t that be a plot twist?
You can check out the new trailer for One Chicago as you prepare for the shows to return here:
And that’s not all the new information we’ve gotten about the shows, as the EW Fall Preview provided us with teases about all three One Chicago shows, with Luke Mitchell telling EW about the return of Chicago Med that when she show picks back up we can expect to see not just a boat crash, but that “People are dying. And then Ms. Goodwin [S. Epatha Merkerson] gives an announcement that one of the other hospitals is closing down. So we are now told that our intake’s basically going to be doubling and it’s chaos.”
Meanwhile, on Chicago Fire, as we saw in the trailer, there’s going to be some bumps. “It’s like Boden raised them,” showrunner Andrea Newman said. “When a new chief starts, everybody’s going to have a different reaction. And some of the reactions are surprising.” So, that probably means Severide won’t be the only one not really vibing with the new Chief?
And on Chicago P.D., showrunner Gwen Sigan teased that “Voight’s in a place where he’s more introspective than we’ve seen him in a while — his unit has changed, he has changed, and whether or not he consciously knows it when we find him at the start of this season, he’s taking stock of his life.” As we said before, we don’t really expect that to change him much, but hey …we’d welcome it if it did.
What are you hoping to see in the new seasons of One Chicago? Are you ready for September 25? One Chicago returns to NBC with new episodes on that day!
I have been extremely disappointed in PD the last 2 seasons. It all had to do with how Jay and Hailey’s departures were handled. Memo to One Chicago, seeing Hailey and Voight sitting together in a car does not create the father-daughter relationship you think it does. I am a bit optimistic as the new cast member will be on patrol, at least initially, meaning more Trudy. I hope this also means more case centric stories involving the whole team and a lot less of this is a Kevin episode, this is a Burzek episode, ect. I also like Chapman, she could be what Voight needs and help his character grow. Wouldn’t mind seeing Chapman as a series regular.
I like a lot of what Med did last year. The one thing I detested was Dr. Charles relationship because of Lilliana’s brother. I would have been much happier if that relationship was a casualty of the writer’s strike.
I’m looking forward to Fire, but I have to say that I don’t love plotlines where “the firehouse is in danger of closing,” because we know it isn’t. I know this is different, but do we really think, at the end of the day, that Commissioner Boden is going to allow someone to change his firehouse? My guess and it is only that is Herman will become Captain this season and the new Battalion Chief will only last for this season and a few episode into next season when Herman will be promoted again.
