And just like that, it’s the final month of 2024. Even though this year is almost over, the ever-growing list of sports entertainment is far from it. Though there is notably less scripted and unscripted content to accompany sports fans during the holiday season, the few programs are exciting. Netflix continues its reign of sports entertainment content with not one but two docuseries and a live event. Meanwhile, Paramount+ reminds soccer fans that it is a place to go for content with a new docuseries about the U.S. Men’s National Team’s #10, Christian Pulisic. We gathered every project in one place, so you don’t miss a thing!

Tuesday, December 10: Rugged Rugby: Conquer or Die
Rugged Rugby: Conquer or Die goes behind the scenes with seven rugby teams “vying to be crowned the strongest in Korea.” Producer Chang Si-won describes the athletes as “gladiators who give it all to win.” Fans of the sport will be able to see it for themselves when the series premieres on Tuesday, December 10.
“The teams will engage in “scrums,” a battle of forces known as the flower of rugby, where players interlock and push against each other to gain possession of the ball. They will also score “tries” by grounding the ball in the in-goal area to earn points, and participate in “kick” matches, showcasing their precision and skill,” per Rugged Rugby: Conquer or Die’s description.
The gladiatorial arena inspired Chang Si-won to create a stadium that allows players to play at their full potential. “I tried to show scrum, try, and kick in the league table-determining match because I thought that viewers would enjoy the games more if they understood the basic rules,” he explained, per Netflix. The streamer shares that “the rules were meticulously crafted and tested” through conversations with advisors, rugby high schools, and clubs.
Sportscaster Jung Yong-keom, Korea’s top sports announcer, and sports commentator Seo In-soo, the only international rugby referee in Korea, will provide Rugged Rugby: Conquer or Die’s play-by-play commentary. Yoon Do-hyun, lead singer of YB, is the music director.
Rugged Rugby: Conquer or Die premieres on Netflix on Tuesday, December 10.
