The day is winding up, and I was stopped dead in my tracks. Why? A message popped up on my computer that The Way Home is coming to an end. 2025 has obviously set out to destroy me and my faith in all things good. Hallmark, what did I do to you to deserve this bad news?
Now stop before you tell me that I am being dramatic – I would argue that you need to leave me alone. I am grieving and YES you can grieve a television show.
The Way Home has long been appointment television for me. I’ve been excited for every moment, every clue, every bit of chaos. I know, I know – I have hated some ships and fallen head over feet for other ones.
But The Way Home – I am not ready to say goodbye.
People was the first to exclusively report the news that The Way Home will end with Season 4 and that it will not premiere until Spring 2026.
“Fans of The Way Home have enthusiastically watched and rewatched every episode since the first pond jump of season 1 as they’ve tried to piece together the brilliant puzzle Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clarke and Marly Reed expertly crafted,” Samantha DiPippo, SVP of programming at Hallmark Media told PEOPLE. “We’re grateful to our talented cast led by Andie, Chyler, Evan and Sadie, as well as our amazing writers and crew who have worked so hard on this show.”
I have loved this show. Watching it week after week, I have found myself rooting for the Landrys and hoping, just hoping, that the family can be whole. They’ve been through a lot and they have given us everything.
I am going to miss this show so much. I am going to treasure every moment of season four – because I am not ready for it to end.
Someone make 2025 stop delivering us all bad news.
