Supergirl SDCC 2016 Interview: Chyler Leigh

While Supergirl might’ve introduced us to its titular, super-powered hero Kara Danvers last season, fans were also treated to a superhero without powers who was just as caring and strong as her adoptive sister. Alex Danvers served as Kara’s emotional tether and source of support throughout season one, but season two is going to focus a little more on Alex as an individual.

“You’re going to get to see more about who she is as an individual and more about her life,” Leigh said. “So much was obviously dedicated to Kara and just really being that motherly figure in a sense for her. But now we get to see really where Alex came from and her life outside of the DEO.”

One of the big focuses this season is going to revolve around Project Cadmus and figure out what happened to Jeremiah Danvers. Last season Alex learned that her father potentially was still alive, and we got a tease of how that’s going to play into season two.

“I know that’s a big mission for Alex and Hank/J’Onn and Kara, as well, to really figure that whole storyline out,” Chyler Leigh told us during a roundtable interview at SDCC. “We end up learning how deep that rabbit hole goes and how much is really involved in it. And Project Cadmus is very bad place. Very bad place. It brings about a lot of Big Bads that we’re going to come into contact with even in the first few episodes. Obviously that’s a very big goal of hers to find that out in general that he’s potentially still alive.”

Watch our interview with Leigh below where she discusses the dynamic between Alex and Kara, Alex’s power without superpowers, and more.

Supergirl season two premieres Monday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c on The CW.
