Rebuilding ones life is not easy. There are a lot of elements to it and it is hard to navigate. However, when you’re at a point in life that you consciously can recognize that things need to be rebuilt. There are a lot facets to growing up and changing. Emily in Paris – you are keeping me on my toes.
Yet, forgiveness and rebuilding ones life isn’t easy. And yes, I am talking about Marcello here. Well giving him forgiveness.
Though I do consider forgiveness to be a gift that you give yourself.

REBUILD
There are moments in life that make you think. You may not realize that they are changing you, giving you inspiration, and affecting your mind. For Emily, Paris and Rome have both given that to her. What I didn’t expect was that for her, seeing someone give a tour in Paris and the result being her thinking about Marcello and how to rebuilding is something that needs to be rebuilt.
Sylvie is on a marketing panel, when it opened to questions. She makes me laugh, when she talks about all that her agency has done, and doesn’t give credit for Muartori to Emily also. She is right when she says that the future of marketing is reinvention. That is what they did with Muratori.
The first question comes from Marcello. I think that all of our eyes widened when he stood up and tried to drag the agency in a way. They did succeed with their objectives, and yes they ere fired, but were they fired for the right reasons? No. They were fired because tourists came to Solitano. So please, Marcello, tell us how they failed.

The increased visibility of their brand, the perfume being nominated for an award, but it’s the tourists that killed the campaign. It breaks my heart for Emily that he’s there and trying to school the agency. All of the things that he’s saying are more directed towards his relationship with Emily.
Here’s some free advice Marcello – APOLOGIZE.
What does surprise me is that Marcello left his family to start his own brand. Can not be mad at this because it is great visibility. What I do wonder is if part of it has to do with Emily. He’s an Italian and those men, in my experience, are hard to read. Unless they want affection and then there is no doubt of what they want.

THE WATER CRISIS
Sylvie made such an impression that she was approached to do crisis management. Now, this being said, Sylvie sometimes needs to look at a bigger picture and it can and does offend others. When she agrees to take a meeting with the water brand – Julian is offended (as he should be) and tells Sylvie that the water brand is homophobic.
Sylvie had told the man that he could call her at any time. Whereas she might not think that it is a big deal that can be fixed, I do believe that she’s smart enough to know that she needs to listen, but she doesn’t make it known because she views it as a sign of weakness. It’s actually a strength.
She needs to know that.
Julian’s remarks that he doesn’t care if they need rehab rehabilitation he’s not doing it. It’s almost Paris pride, imagine how we look, and Julian is right when he tells her these things.

BESTIES BEFORE TESTIES
Yes, I have given Mindy a lot of crap, but she’s deserved it. She’s learned her lesson, and is learning to be more open and a better bestie. She’s learned that she needs to tell Emily things before they get out of hand.
She goes to tell her that Marcello is in town, but Emily already knew.
As a best friend, you should be willing to go above and beyond for your best friend. Mindy is willing to poke at Marcello as she’s going to dinner with Nico and Marcello.
While I don’t think that Mindy and Nico will work out – I do understand the reasons that Mindy may feel a little safer with him now. He’s given up JVMA and his family for Mindy. She seems happy being with Nico, but I don’t think she’s over Alfie.
Mindy is trying her best to get information from Marcello. She’s asking about dating, his personal life – everything. Even Marcello gets cheeky and asks if there is anyone that Mindy wants to introduce her to.

And yet, Marcello thinks that Emily has drawn a line in the sand and doesn’t want to be around him anymore. Yet, leaving was mostly his fault. He played Emily by working against her. I do believe that Marcello knew what Mindy was asking and he just didn’t want to answer it. I also believe that Nico was out of line to tell her to let it go.
There are many reasons why a best friend should and would go hard. Sometimes you have to be willing to go the distance. That may be volunteering your bestie up for horseback riding. Their best friendship – well, Mindy is texting her during the whole date and hopefully that is redeeming enough for her.
I wanted to see Mindy being this person. Mindy told Marcello that Emily felt like she was being played, but she told Emily to come. Marcello wants her there, so we’ll see what happens.

SYVLIE & THE CHOCOLATIER
You have to love who a friend thinks that you should be with. Sometimes it is comical and other times it is like really? Sylvie needs to talk to Yvette and ask her if that is what she thinks of her, because the chocolatier guy is all sorts of creepy.
Now do I know that Sylvie and Laurent sleep with other people. Yes. But like this chocolatier guy? Thats just no respect. Though I did laugh when the man was like I make chocolates based off what I think my woman taste like? Yes. I did. Because it was funny. He thinks Sylvie would taste like a praline with a smoky finish. No wonder she was like I need to leave.
And she was smart to do just that. She met her new 5-7 man and he was HOT. A little weird, but hot none the less. He’s like when can I see you again, tomorrow possibly? Sylvie is making excuses and says she doesn’t have time. We get that she is a busy woman, but he’s like after work and before dinner, I will make sure you get off oh Lord, I need to move to Paris.
The chocolatier sends Syvlie chocolates to work, and the guys there think that they are for Emily. But they are there for Sylvie and apparently disgusting. She did good passing on the Swiss guy.

IT I STILL THERE
I would love to believe that horseback riding is always a good idea, but watching Emily get up on a horse – I couldn’t stop laughing. She does get up there though. That’s Emily for you though, determination.
At first it’s all small talk until Emily and Marcello are left alone to ride with each other.
I know that Marcello thinks that what happens was not as big of a deal as Emily does. The two are very competitive, but the reality is that they should have said a lot things that they keep to themselves outloud.
If you keep things in, never ends well. At least in my opinion.
Marcello says the things he should have said in Solitano. He doesn’t hold back telling her that his Mom should have never fired her and she doesn’t hold back saying that he should have said that at the time. He thinks he has said this, but he didn’t. It felt like he was trying to gaslight her and I am never for that.
I think we all know that he didn’t want to hurt her, but she did. Apologies seem to escape him. If he just says the truth, things can change. However, as he starts to speak more, the horse with Emily on it starts to take off. Marcello manages to catch up and help her.
They both get off like he gets off the horse and then helps her and the horse. It’s just one of those things that I think is a nice guy and then I remember what he did. Emily says that she didn’t need rescuing and he gets cocky.
Marcello doesn’t realize that he made Emily feel as though she was a job and that is really hard for her. She thinks that it may be about her not saying goodbye when she left Rome and as she she was like this is me saying goodbye. He was way out of line.

THE WATER APOLOGY
Sylvie says that APOGEE (the water company) is coming in. Julian‘s is visibly upset and informs the team that it is homophobic water. When asked how can water be homophobic Julian informs that the company gave a whole bunch of money to people that oppose same-sex marriage. I was really proud that Julian is like hell no
When the CEO shows up, he doesn’t know how to fix the water – as stores won’t stock the water. He remarks that people won’t stock the water, but the only thing that APOGEE is against dehydration. Sylvie asks if they have put out a press release or donated to LGBTQ plus charities. Julian asks if they have apologized, because it is the right thing to do.
The CEO makes the comment, asking why it is that he should apologize.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the reason that apologies should be made is because they were in the wrong. They donated to people and organizations against same sex marriage. There is an apology to be made there.
Emily suggests a rebrand a new name, a rebrand, and a test market.
Julian, I love. I also think that we don’t give him enough credit for the man that he is. That is in part because of his dry sense of humor. He’s so creative, full of life, and should be seen front and center.
Julia suggests relaunching the water at Pride. Luc has ideas but of course they are sexually suggestive in nature. Debuting at Pride would be a big deal for them all and I believe that Julian is the one that should be telling them what to do.
As the team continues with the meeting, Julian writes down the name he thinks should be the new name.
Part of me wants to see the CEO and Julian together. I want to see Julian in love, having a relationship, and experiencing all that Paris has to offer. I only care about this companies redemption tour if Julian is at the helm.

PRIDE & SWALLOWING PRIDE
Mindy is performing on the waters float. I stood up to applaud Mindy when she questioned being on the float and needed to know if Emily put her on a homophobic float. It means a lot that she asks questions.
I had to laugh though when Nico and Marcello show up and the are mistaken for dancers on the float. That had to have been an ego boost for them. Emily corrects them gentleman and tells him that Nico and Marcello are there to support Mindy, but not ambassadors.
Marcello keeps getting hit on and Emily can not take her eyes off of him. You know that she loves him and wants to make up, but they both are stubborn. Emily says that she needs to go, and Mindy calls her out. She tells her that she bolts all of the time and she’s scared. Mindy tells Emily that she has done the same thing with Gabriel. As a good best friend – she tells her that she needs to stop running, that Marcello is something real. And the best thing is when Mindy tells her that it is pride and she shouldn’t let her pride get in the way.
Emily realizes that she needs to stop running. That is why she and Marcello were able to make their apologies and also decide to start over. I do think that they do need to talk through somethings or it won’t last.
Because things that stay buried always come to light.
