Boston Blue Season 1 Episode 17 “L’dor Vador” finally gave us some answers regarding Lena’s past. But, even though we know who her father is, we’re still left with more questions. Why did Mae keep these secrets for all these years? And what else do we not know about Lena’s father?!
We were also treated to another appearance by Erin Reagan. Like we’ve said before, we like when members of Blue Bloods show up, and this was no exception. And while we love Danny and Lena’s partnership, seeing Erin and Danny working together shows us how well they know each other. You can’t replace a sibling bond, which was not only evident with Erin and Danny, but with Sarah and Lena as well.
We review Boston Blue Season 1, Episode 17 “L’dor Vador” below!
Family Secrets

Lena discovering who her biological father is changes everything for her.
She’s spent so many years thinking he just abandoned her and never loved her. And now she finds out he never knew she existed. Her whole life was basically a lie. And maybe things would have been different if she had known that. So, it makes sense that her first instinct is to go see her father. As she told Sarah, a father is the first person who is supposed to love you. And Lena wants her father’s love.
Lena didn’t meet her father in this episode, but she got a sense of who he is. He’s the police chief, and it seems like he’s not quite the criminal Mae has made him out to be. This makes us wonder why Mae kept this secret for all of these years. We understand keeping Chris away from Lena when she was a child. But when she became an adult, she deserved to know who her biological father is.
Chris isn’t the only relative Lena didn’t know about.
It turns out she has a sister, who is married to the cop she worked with this week. That’s messy. And shocking. So we wonder how much messier this story is going to get. When will Lena actually meet her father? What else is Mae hiding about her past? This could destroy Lena’s relationship with Mae. And we’re very interested in what comes next!
Sibling Bonds

Erin Regan made an appearance in “L’dor Vador” and she and Danny wasted no time jumping back into their old routines. If you watched Blue Bloods, you know how much they loved to argue about everything. This case was no exception. But, despite their arguing, they still work well together and were able to escape Abraham and rescue Lauren.
We were surprised that Danny and Erin went along with Abraham’s plan to ride along with him. Because honestly, this felt like a trap all along, and we can’t believe they fell for it. Luckily, Erin and Danny can read each other well with their phrase “Please don’t hurt my family,” and Erin and Danny got away unharmed.
While Danny and Erin’s relationship impressed us this week, we were also impressed by Lena and Sarah’s.
We loved that Sarah was the first call that Lena made and told her about her father. Yes, Sarah did share her opinions and made sure Lena knew she was loved by the Silvers and by Ben, but she also listened. That’s what Lena really needed. She loves and trusts Sarah more than anyone. That’s so important, and Lena is going to need Sarah now more than ever especially if her relationship with Mae falls apart.
Other Thoughts:

- The term “nepo baby” can be really degrading. Just because Phoebe is Sarah’s future step-daughter doesn’t mean she didn’t deserve to be in the program. She was judged unfairly, and we hate that for her. We did love that Sarah was able to talk to her (she definitely has experience with being judged for who she’s related to) and make her realize she has advantages, too. In the end, Phoebe made that guy take her seriously. Which we love.
- It seems a little ridiculous that Phoebe’s mom is suing for full custody. Phoebe was fine, and accidents are going to happen regardless of what parent has custody. We hope that her mom doesn’t win.
- Why doesn’t Danny visit home more often? The way Erin talked it seems like they miss him and hardly ever see him. Boston is not that far from New York! Go visit your family, Danny!
