Which, in A Series of Unfortunate Events-land, means better. Always better.
The sometimes depressing, sometimes deep and always, always hilarious and poignant show is coming back for Season 2 in a little over a month, and Netflix has released a trailer for the long-awaited season, which will span books five, six, seven, eight and nine of the 13-book series written by Daniel Handler under the pen-name of Lemony Snicket.
ASOUE has already been renewed for a third and presumably final season.
Both show and movie follow the Baudeliere orphans – Violet, Klaus and Sunny – as they try to navigate life and get passed around from unsuitable guardian to unsuitable guardian after their parents perish in a suspicions fire. If that doesn’t sound bad enough, there’s the villainous Count Olaf, who’s definitely after their money and will stop at nothing to get his way.
So, as Lemony Snicket himself would undoubtedly tell you, if you are interested in a story with a happy ending, that story is streaming elsewhere. This story has no happy ending, no happy beginning, and very few happy things in the middle. And yet, despite that dire warning, I must tell you that one thing this story does have is a hell of a lot of heart.

A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix on March 30th.
